Requirements
  • A post-secondary degree in Business, Accounting, and/or a related field is required.
  • Eight years of related Automobile and Property insurance underwriting experience are required.
  • Experience in insurance is required.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office programs and automated systems is required.
  • Ability to communicate and present ideas clearly to diverse audiences is required.
  • Ability to analyze information, make sound decisions, manage time, work independently and collaboratively, adapt to change, and produce accurate work is required.
  • Candidates must have or be willing to take auditing courses to obtain an Auditor Training Certificate.
Responsibilities
  • Report to the Supervisor of Corporate Underwriting.
  • Collect and analyze data to detect deficient controls, duplicated effort, fraud, or non-compliance with laws, regulations, and underwriting policies.
  • Determine whether new or renewal business is rated in accordance with underwriting rules and regulatory requirements.
  • Conduct pre-implementation audits to determine whether systems and programs under development will be successful.
  • Recommend improvements to existing procedures, system functionality, and underwriting manuals to provide greater clarity and consistency.
  • Develop comprehensive management reports to support recommendations for improvements in workflow processes and procedures.
  • Establish and maintain positive business relationships with external and internal stakeholders.
Desired Qualifications
  • A Fellow Chartered Insurance Professional or Chartered Insurance Professional designation from the Insurance Institute of Canada is preferred.
