About the job

Requirements
  • At least 6 years of experience in site reliability engineering, DevOps, or infrastructure engineering roles, with deep hands-on Azure experience.
  • Strong Terraform expertise, including designing module structures, managing state, and managing complex multi-resource environments from scratch.
  • A preference for automation, reproducibility, and infrastructure as code over manual infrastructure changes.
  • Software engineering discipline applied to infrastructure, including Git workflows, branching, pull requests, code review, and automation.
  • Experience with Windows Server administration, Internet Information Services, Active Directory or Entra ID, and Windows-based application stacks.
  • Understanding of Azure networking, including virtual networks, peering, private endpoints, and network security groups; Azure identity; role-based access control; service principals; managed identities; and cost-management tooling.
  • Working knowledge of AWS core services, including Identity and Access Management, Virtual Private Cloud, and Elastic Compute or Elastic Container services.
  • Experience integrating on-premises infrastructure with cloud environments, including VPN or ExpressRoute, hybrid identity, and hybrid networking.
  • A track record of introducing structure and standards into organically or rapidly grown environments.
  • Strong scripting ability in PowerShell, Bash, or Python.
  • Judgment around security and access control, with a least-privilege approach.
  • Ability to work autonomously, make architectural decisions, and drive them through adoption.
Responsibilities
  • Own the reliability, scalability, and security posture of the Azure environment end to end.
  • Lead the effort to bring infrastructure fully under Terraform-managed infrastructure as code, replacing manual and ad hoc provisioning with repeatable, version-controlled deployments.
  • Maintain infrastructure code in Git, route changes through pull requests and peer review, and test modules before release.
  • Define and implement an Azure architecture strategy covering resource organization, naming and tagging standards, subscription and management-group hierarchy, and network topology.
  • Redesign and enforce least-privilege access and permission boundaries across Azure role-based access control, Entra ID, and service principals.
  • Identify and eliminate wasteful or redundant resource provisioning and build cost visibility and accountability into infrastructure deployment.
  • Build continuous integration and continuous delivery pipelines for infrastructure changes, automating plan/apply, validation, and policy checks.
  • Build monitoring, alerting, and observability practices using Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, Application Insights, or equivalent tools.
  • Manage and modernize the Windows-based on-premises component and integrate it more tightly with Azure.
  • Apply infrastructure-as-code and automation practices to the AWS footprint as needed.
  • Drive incident response, postmortems, service-level objectives, error budgets, and capacity planning.
  • Partner with engineering teams to incorporate reliability, security, and infrastructure-as-code discipline into the software delivery lifecycle.
  • Mentor engineers on cloud, infrastructure as code, and software engineering best practices.
Desired Qualifications
  • Familiarity with Azure DevOps for infrastructure pipelines.
  • Prior experience leading a cloud environment from an ungoverned state to a well-architected environment.
  • Azure Solutions Architect certification.
  • Azure Administrator certification.
  • HashiCorp Terraform Associate certification.
