Requirements
  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing with a specialized diploma.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of patient- and family-centered practice, cultural awareness, effective communication, patient assessment and care, patient and designated care partner education, medication administration and prescription, discharge planning, assessment and diagnosis, and health information documentation.
  • Current Basic Life Support certification from the American Heart Association.
  • Licensed registered nurse in Pennsylvania, with an active registered nurse license in the state of practice.
  • Ability to lift and carry 40–50 pounds, stand and walk frequently to continuously, and perform role-specific activities such as kneeling, bending, squatting, and CPR.
Responsibilities
  • Use the nursing process to develop individualized nursing plans of care with patients and their designated care partners.
  • Integrate evidence-based practice, clinical expertise, patient and family preferences, and cultural beliefs and values to deliver optimal healthcare.
  • Identify patient and care partner learning needs and provide understandable education about conditions, treatments, medications, and recovery steps.
  • Follow established nursing practices and protocols to minimize risk of harm to patients and others.
  • Use information technology to communicate, manage knowledge, mitigate errors, and support ethical decision-making.
  • Use data to monitor care outcomes and apply improvement methods to design and test changes that improve patient-care quality and safety.
  • Function effectively within nursing and interprofessional teams through open communication, mutual respect, and shared decision-making.
  • Create an environment of belonging and inclusion, and apply problem-solving and conflict-resolution skills.
  • Act as a primary preceptor for appropriate staff members.
  • Participate in hospital- and practice-setting committees, including safety and quality-improvement committees.
  • Give and receive feedback and integrate appropriate changes into practice.
Desired Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (BSN), completion of a BSN, or an appropriate advanced degree within three years of hire.
  • One year of previous registered nurse experience in an acute care setting.
