  • Ability to utilize the EPIC scheduling system to search for appointments across multiple physicians, resources, specialties, and sites.
  • Knowledge of government and commercial insurance requirements.
  • Knowledge of patient privacy and confidentiality requirements under the HIPAA Privacy Office guidelines.
Responsibilities
  • Deliver a high level of patient service with consistent quality and productivity.
  • Identify trouble spots and problem patterns in the provision of care.
  • Act as a subject matter expert supporting peers.
  • Train new agents in scheduling and registration requirements specific to their specialties.
  • Schedule and register patients for appointments within the UHealth System.
  • Provide general information about UHealth System services to patients and community healthcare providers.
  • Support UHealth System departments and clinics with information inquiries and problem resolution.
  • Maintain direct communication with providers and staff in the Medical Center and satellite offices.
  • Complete full patient registration accurately while following appointment scheduling and registration policies and procedures.
  • Initiate the pre-registration process and coordinate with Central Insurance Verification and Patient Access teams to ensure pre-registration at the appropriate facility before appointments.
  • Ensure demographic and insurance information is accurate, complete, and up to date in the patient record.
  • Verify insurance information, benefits, and insurance referral information.
  • Verify private patient insurance information for same-day appointments or by request.
  • Ensure ease of patient flow through the medical care process.
  • Provide patients with required appointment and payment-policy information, including medical records, parking, cash policies, anticipated charges, ancillary services, and cancellation policies.
  • Act as a liaison and advocate for patients, physicians, and staff to facilitate ease of care.
  • Notify appropriate parties of appointment times, referral criteria, insurance verification, and prior authorization requirements.
  • Provide accurate, detail-oriented customer service to patients, physicians, and other relevant members in accordance with University standards.
