About the job
- At least 1 year of medical office experience.
- Knowledge of laws regulating communication and privacy, including the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA), and understanding of their application.
- Ability to prepare detailed correspondence for internal and external audiences professionally.
- Ability to organize work, manage time effectively, provide customer service, present professionally by phone, use advanced computer skills, and research and resolve account questions.
- Knowledge of the insurance and healthcare industry.
- Ability to communicate clearly both verbally and in writing.
- Ability to multitask professionally.
- Ability to work independently and as a team member.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Outlook, Microsoft Word, and Microsoft Excel.
- Review and respond to attorney requests received by mail, fax, and email, including subpoenas, affidavit requests, billing requests, and medical records requests.
- Draft and prepare records and affidavits pertaining to letters of protection cases.
- Create invoices and accept payments for attorney and third-party records requests.
- Track and follow up on outstanding requests and invoices.
- Ensure records are distributed within legal time limits.
- Provide customer service by telephone, email, and in person daily.
- Follow up on outstanding letters of protection and unpaid claims.
- Perform other assigned duties.
- Experience in medical records or insurance billing.
