Requirements
  • High School Diploma.
  • Experience leading and teaching a music discipline.
  • Musical experience or expertise in one or more of the following disciplines: brass, vocal, guitar, or piano.
  • Must have a valid driver's license.
  • Must have personal transportation.
  • Must be able to work and relate well with people.
  • Must be able to read, write, and communicate in English.
  • Must be available to work weeknights and weekends.
  • Must remain current with KeepSAfe training.
  • Ability to sit, walk, stand, bend, squat, climb, kneel, and twist on an intermittent or occasional continuous basis.
  • Ability to grasp, push, pull, and reach overhead.
  • Ability to load and change settings, devices, and fixtures on equipment used in and around an office environment.
  • Ability to operate a telephone and other electronic communication devices.
  • Ability to operate personal computers, copiers, fax machines, and scanning equipment.
  • Ability to lift up to 40 pounds.
  • Ability to travel throughout the Division via car, train, or airplane.
  • Ability to be creative, original, intuitive, and perceptive.
  • Ability to think logically and critically.
  • Ability to envision a project from beginning to end.
  • Ability to solve complex problems and make appropriate judgments and decisions.
Responsibilities
  • Teach and lead music classes, as well as group and private music lessons, at assigned Salvation Army corps in Massachusetts.
  • Work with the Divisional Music Director and Salvation Army officers to promote and plan local music events for assigned corps.
  • Help local leaders plan programs, advertise music programs to the public, and implement special events such as concerts and recitals.
  • Prepare musicians for seasonal performances during Christmas and Easter.
  • Encourage and help prepare musicians to participate in Divisional music programs such as Youth Arts Ministry, Star Search, and Music Conservatory.
  • Communicate problems or concerns to the Divisional Music Director.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
