About the Job

Requirements

  • Typically 5–8 years of experience in integrations, systems engineering, software engineering, or related technical roles, with significant responsibility for delivering and supporting live enterprise solutions.
  • Strong hands-on experience designing, building, and supporting Workday integrations, or equivalent integrations on enterprise HR platforms, combined with the ability to work beyond a single application or vendor ecosystem.
  • Strong knowledge of integration and software engineering technologies such as APIs, REST/SOAP, XML, JSON, middleware, event or workflow orchestration, scripting, flat files, SFTP, and encryption mechanisms.
  • Experience applying software engineering practices such as reusable design, version control, automated or structured testing, deployment discipline, and maintainable technical documentation.
  • Experience with workflow automation, AI-assisted development, or AI-enabled solutions in an enterprise technology environment, or a strong ability to rapidly develop capability in these areas.
  • Strong understanding of enterprise data models, interface dependencies, failure modes, and the security, privacy, and compliance requirements associated with sensitive employee data.
  • Proven ability to diagnose and resolve complex technical issues spanning multiple systems, vendors, and integration patterns, and to drive durable rather than tactical fixes.
  • Ability to work independently on ambiguous and complex problems, evaluate technical options, apply sound judgement, and recognise when architectural concerns should be escalated.
  • Strong communication and partnering skills, with the ability to explain technical issues clearly to non-technical stakeholders and collaborate effectively across Product, Functional, and Operations teams.
  • A relevant degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Fluency in English is required.

Responsibilities

  • Own the end-to-end lifecycle of complex integrations and technical solutions across Workday and connected internal or external systems, from design and build through to production support.
  • Design, build, test, and maintain solutions using appropriate engineering tools and patterns, including Workday Studio, EIBs, APIs, middleware, orchestration, scripting, or low-code capabilities where applicable.
  • Build and improve workflow automation, intelligent integrations, and AI-enabled solutions that reduce manual effort, improve employee technology experiences, or increase the effectiveness of People Technology operations.
  • Use AI-assisted engineering practices responsibly to improve development speed, testing, troubleshooting, documentation, and solution quality while respecting security, privacy, and governance requirements.
  • Act as a senior escalation point for complex integration and engineering incidents, analysing logs, payloads, timing, data mappings, and system behaviour to identify root causes and implement durable fixes.
  • Ensure solutions meet requirements for data accuracy, security, performance, resilience, and maintainability, including during cyclical or high-risk activity such as payroll, benefits processing, or major organisational changes.
  • Contribute to the definition and continuous improvement of engineering standards, integration patterns, reusable components, runbooks, and testing approaches.
  • Partner closely with Functional, Product, and Operations colleagues to clarify requirements, evaluate technical options, understand dependencies, and translate business needs into practical engineering solutions.
  • Explore and adopt relevant capabilities across the Workday ecosystem, including Workday Orchestrate, Extend/Build, and future platform innovations, alongside appropriate external enterprise technologies.
  • Maintain high-quality technical documentation and apply sound software engineering practices across solution design, testing, version control, deployment, and support.
  • Mentor and support more junior technical specialists, sharing engineering knowledge and helping raise capability across integrations, automation, and emerging technologies.

Desired Qualifications

  • Additional languages are a plus.
  • Curiosity and a continuous-learning mindset towards emerging engineering and AI capabilities.
