- The candidate must possess good written and oral communication skills.
- The candidate must demonstrate expertise in sleep disorders, sleep activity, abnormalities, movement arousals, and respirations.
- The candidate must have one year of experience in sleep study activity.
- The candidate must hold a current American Heart Association Basic Life Support Certification.
- The candidate must possess current and unrestricted certification or registration as a Registered Polysomnographic Technologist through the Board of Registered Polysomnographic Technologists.
- Prepare adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients and equipment for sleep disorders testing.
- Monitor the polysomnogram and document according to policy.
- Arrive to work in a timely manner and review the activity list for the night's duties and patients.
- Review assigned patient charts, greet patients, complete appropriate paperwork, and perform the pre-test assessment.
- Apply recording sensors, acclimatize patients to Continuous Positive Airway Pressure when applicable, and perform pre-recording calibration.
- Monitor the recording during the evening according to protocol, including documentation and interventions as needed.
- End the recording according to protocol, complete post-study documentation, remove sensors, and clean up as needed.
- Score polysomnograms as needed and prepare reports for dictation.
- Assist with training, orientation, and competency assessments as needed.
