About the job
- A hotel school education or equivalent experience.
- Two years of experience in the same role in a similar environment.
- Proficiency with computerized payment systems.
- Proficiency with computer tools including Excel, Outlook, and GTA.
- Knowledge of the fundamentals of dining-room service.
- Fluency in English and a second foreign language.
- Knowledge of table setting and service, oenology, and spirits.
- Ability to anticipate customer needs.
- Ability to handle customer complaints.
- Record reservations and update the table-occupancy plan.
- Welcome customers, seat them, provide the menu and drinks list, and take orders.
- Help and advise customers in their choices.
- Sell and present products persuasively to maximize sales.
- Assign instructions, objectives, and tasks to the sommelier, chef de rang, and commis.
- Monitor and coordinate dining-room service.
- Act as the liaison between the dining room and the kitchen.
- Process customer payments.
- Thank, greet, and accompany customers when they leave.
- Resolve customer problems.
- Participate in inventory management.
- Propose areas for improvement.
