Insider-backed growth stocks to watch: CoreWeave, Tesla and Cerebras after the AI tech slide

A slide in US technology shares in October has shaken investors' patience with expensive AI growth stories. Simply Wall St says that may favour smaller, fast-growing companies with heavy insider ownership. It highlights three stocks. CoreWeave, an AI cloud provider focused on GPU compute, earns about $7.6 billion from data processing services and has a market value of roughly $30.3 billion. Its model is capital-intensive, with Nvidia dominant on hardware supply. Tesla makes about $91.3 billion from automotive and $12.3 billion from energy generation and storage. Its market value is near $1.6 trillion, and it is pursuing AI, robotaxis, humanoid robots, and battery storage. Cerebras Systems builds wafer-scale AI hardware. In March 2026, AWS added its CS-3 systems to Amazon Bedrock, promising up to 15x faster inference than monolithic GPU setups.

Intel and Amazon Stocks Plummet Amid AI Trade Decline

Intel and Amazon stocks plummet amid AI trade decline. Intel and Amazon deepen the AI sell-off as investors flee to Safety. October 30, 2026 London, 30 october 2026 - EBM newsdesk Analysis - by nick staunton. The AI trade is unravelling. Intel lost a quarter of its value and Amazon fell close to 7% after disappointing quarterly results, dragging technology stocks lower around the world and sending investors running for safe havens. It caps a dismal results season for the companies building the AI boom. Alphabet plunged 10% earlier this week as its spending pushed cash flow into the red, and Meta is still dealing with the fallout from its own results after committing up to $145bn to AI. Only Microsoft has won investors' approval. Intel and Amazon Disappoint Join the European business briefing. New subscribers this quarter are entered into a draw to win a Rolex Submariner. Join 40,000+ founders, investors and executives who read EBM every day. Intel's 26% plunge came after it cut its guidance for the rest of the year, and its earnings and revenue fell well short of forecasts. Amazon's revenue and earnings both missed expectations, and it confirmed plans to spend $220bn on capital investment this year, a figure that now worries investors more than it excites them. Futures on the Nasdaq 100 fell more than 2% in European trading, and the S&P 500 dropped 1%. The Dow was unchanged, largely shielded from the tech sell-off. Chip stocks were hit hardest: the iShares Semiconductor ETF fell more than 6%. Data centre operator CoreWeave dropped 6.7% and has lost more than half its value since August, while rival Nebius is down 37% this month. Asia's Chipmakers Tumble The pain spread quickly to Asia, reversing the rally that chip stocks led just days ago. South Korea's Kospi fell 3.5% and is now down more than 38% from its June peak. Memory chip giants SK Hynix and Samsung Electronics fell 7.1% and 3%. In Japan, the Nikkei dropped 2.1%, SoftBank fell 6% and memory chipmaker Kioxia slumped 7.1%. The Bank of Japan held rates and declared victory in its long battle against deflation, with inflation now holding around its 2% target. But Japanese shares fell after it said it would speed up sales of the exchange-traded funds it holds. Hong Kong's Hang Seng bucked the trend with a 1.5% gain. A Rush to Safety The sell-off has triggered a flight to safety, but not into the dollar. Investors have instead bought the Japanese yen and Swiss franc, traditional havens that had been out of favour. US Treasuries were the biggest winners, with yields falling back to levels last seen at the start of the month, before the bond rout gathered pace. The Federal Reserve held rates on Wednesday, as expected ahead of next week's mid-term elections. But inflation remains a problem: core PCE, the Fed's preferred measure, rose to 3.1% from 3%. If the tech sell-off deepens, markets may start pricing in rate cuts in December rather than rises. Crypto and Gold Under Pressure Bitcoin broke below $80,000 and fell towards $76,000 after news of the record heist at Binance, the world's largest crypto exchange. Analysts see $75,000 as the next key support level. Gold and silver also slumped despite a weaker dollar. Gold is back below $4,000 an ounce, while silver appears headed for a test of $50. That level is significant because it is where silver peaked in its 2011 rally. Oil Stays High Oil remains the exception. Brent and WTI are trading above $100 a barrel for contracts running into February, as the war with Iran enters its ninth month. Explosive devices attached to a tanker in the Strait of Hormuz were detonated this morning, and Washington continues to threaten strikes on Iran after the mid-terms. High prices are good news for some: Europe's oil majors are handing back billions to shareholders. The call. This week's results have changed the mood on AI. Investors are no longer rewarding spending for its own sake; they want proof it is paying off, and most of the big players have failed to show it. Intel's collapse and Amazon's $220bn spending bill have turned doubt into selling, and the pain is spreading to chipmakers, data centre operators and Asian markets. The flight into Treasuries, the yen and the franc shows how nervous investors have become. Unless next quarter brings clear evidence of returns, expect the AI trade to keep deflating, and the Fed to come under growing pressure to cut rates rather than raise them. Related Analysis

CoreWeave (NASDAQ:CRWV) stock price down 5% - what's next? October 29, 2026 Key points. * CoreWeave shares fell 5% to about $60.74 amid heavier-than-usual trading, following concerns that Microsoft's lower-than-expected capital spending could signal slower AI infrastructure expansion. * The company's growth outlook remains supported by new AI capacity in Denmark and planned deployments in Asia-Pacific and the Middle East, while analysts maintain a "Moderate Buy" consensus with an average price target of $130.24. * Investors continue to weigh CoreWeave's strong AI exposure against significant risks, including a highly leveraged balance sheet, rising debt-service costs, negative profitability, insider selling and potential litigation-related headlines. * MarketBeat previews the top five stocks to own by November 1st. CoreWeave Inc. (NASDAQ:CRWV - Get Free Report) dropped 5% on Thursday. The company traded as low as $60.11 and last traded at $60.74. More CoreWeave news. Here are the key news stories impacting CoreWeave this week: * CoreWeave's new AI capacity in Denmark is coming online, with additional network deployments planned across Asia-Pacific and the Middle East. The expansion supports its long-term growth opportunity as demand for AI computing remains strong. * Wall Street analysts continue to rate CRWV a "Moderate Buy," while bullish commentary argues that its concentrated exposure to AI infrastructure could provide more upside than diversified cloud companies if spending accelerates. * Articles comparing CoreWeave with Microsoft highlight the trade-off for investors: CoreWeave offers greater AI-growth leverage, but Microsoft has stronger cash generation, diversification and a lower-risk business model. * Microsoft's capital spending came in below expectations, reigniting concerns that AI infrastructure expansion may be slowing or that data-center capacity is taking longer to deliver. CoreWeave and other neocloud stocks sold off in response. * Investors remain focused on CoreWeave's debt-service risk. Interest expense is reportedly growing faster than operating income, adding pressure to a highly leveraged balance sheet and making the stock especially sensitive to changes in AI spending expectations. * Moore Law PLLC announced an investigation into potential claims against CoreWeave's officers and directors. Neocloud stocks fall as Microsoft's $45.2B capex misses $50.7B estimate

Shares of neocloud companies fell in extended trading after Microsoft reported lower-than-expected capital expenditure. CoreWeave and Nebius slid almost 5%, and IREN fell about 3%. Microsoft posted $45.2 billion in capex and finance leases for the quarter, up about 30% from a year earlier. Analysts had expected an average of $50.7 billion, according to StreetAccount. The figure suggests infrastructure partners are taking longer to deliver data centre capacity. Microsoft relies heavily on neoclouds, including a nearly $20 billion deal with Nebius. Azure revenue rose 48%. Alphabet's capex also missed, at $51.36 billion against an expected $55.09 billion. CoreWeave closed Wednesday at $63.93.
