Requirements
  • Enrolled in a 4-year degree, preferable sophomore or junior status, in majors such as Business, Human Resources, Information Technology or Finance with a strong aptitude for technology.
  • Strong business acumen with the ability to understand processes and translate them into system requirements.
  • High-level technical understanding—comfortable navigating enterprise systems and learning new technology quickly (Workday experience is a plus but not required).
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other data analysis tools for reporting and validation tasks.
  • Experience in roles or coursework involving problem-solving, process documentation, or requirements gathering.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills to manage multiple tasks and maintain accuracy.
  • Must be able to work on-site in Lincoln, Nebraska, and work at least 15-20 hours/week consistently.
  • Must be able to fulfill all hours within normal business operating hours (Mon-Fri, 8am-5pm CST).
Responsibilities
  • Pathway Interns will work directly as a functioning member of multiple teams within Nelnet. Interns will rotate through a variety of business departments across the enterprise, adding value to projects already in place or creating new ones to own yourself.
  • They will collaborate with other interns to complete multiple projects based on real business problems Nelnet faces today.
  • Participate in scheduled events, programming, networking, and mentorship opportunities.
  • Work with Workday program fundamentals and system administration teams to support our human resources and finance teams.
  • Available departments to rotate through include: Workday (Program), Workday (Systems Administration), HRIS (HR Systems), FINS (Financial Reporting).
  • Projects may include: Presenting project updates, gathering requirements for new Workday initiatives, partnering with stakeholders, reviewing and implementing ideas, conducting deep dives into Workday, assisting with configuration updates, documenting processes and creating guides, supporting testing and validation of new Workday features.
  • You will receive: computer equipment, day-to-day support, mentorship program, and swag (optional)
Desired Qualifications
  • Workday experience is a plus but not required
  • Ideally, sophomore or junior in college during the internship term, though all students will be considered
  • Experience with Workday is a plus
  • Strong data analysis skills beyond Excel would be a plus
  • Additional preferred but not required: communication skills across stakeholders in HR and Finance teams

Omaha's Grapple raises $1M to make data analytics accessible for nontechnical users

Omaha-based Grapple has raised $1 million in a pre-seed round led by Invest Nebraska and Nelnet, with participation from MOVE Venture Capital and Nebraska Angels. The startup develops an AI-powered platform that makes data analytics accessible to nontechnical users without requiring data engineering expertise. Founded in 2025 by Jack Sellwood, Grapple's software pulls information from various sources including databases, spreadsheets and apps like Salesforce and Quickbooks. The platform enables sales, marketing and finance teams to compile reports independently, saving businesses time and money. Grapple was recently accepted into California's LAUNCH Accelerator and has secured early customers including Nebraska startups Guardify and Workshop. The company will use the funding to expand its team, marketing efforts and go-to-market strategy whilst remaining based in Omaha.
