Requirements
  • A master's degree or a combination of education, experience, and training.
  • Experience in a significant leadership position, preferably in an Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business-accredited business school or closely related school or college.
  • A successful record and experience leading, developing, and training professional staff.
  • Experience designing and managing international exchange programs, including developing relationships with universities across the world.
Responsibilities
  • Provide strategic direction and management of the Mason School of Business residential full-time Undergraduate Business Programs, including discipline-specific majors and minors and specialty minor programs.
  • Oversee academic calendar and course schedule development.
  • Oversee student transition events such as pre-major advising, new student orientation, and graduation.
  • Plan instructional course offerings, scheduling, and staffing with faculty directors and department chairs.
  • Design and manage international exchange programs, including developing relationships with universities across the world.
  • Design and implement BMAP programs at William & Mary.
  • Ensure the academic aspects of the Bachelor of Business Administration program are high quality, relevant, and differentiated.
  • Meet regularly with instructional faculty to maintain smooth class delivery and identify student or program concerns.
  • Develop signature academic and community-building events with faculty.
  • Manage key relationships with counterparts within the business school and across campus.
  • Apply emerging trends and best practices in student affairs, business education, and higher education to enhance student success outcomes.
  • Communicate with students through individual, small-group, and class-wide meetings, workshops, updates, and student-leadership meetings.
  • Develop and improve communication strategies for William & Mary undergraduates through direct communication and the website or Blackboard Hub.
  • Communicate with faculty about student issues, micro-trends, macro-trends, and strategies to address them.
  • Maintain relationships with students who lead Business School clubs and organizations.
  • Design and lead strategies supporting students with diverse needs.
  • Develop campus outreach for freshmen and sophomores to promote business majors, minors, the Master of Accounting program, and the Master of Science in Business Analytics program.
  • Research, implement, and continuously improve admissions practices for highly competitive environments.
  • Develop communication, outreach, recruitment, and admissions plans and processes.
  • Evaluate and adjust strategic admissions policies and criteria and collaborate on application reviews and admissions decisions.
  • Identify barriers in the student application and enrollment process and resolve them.
  • Gather competitor data to evaluate offer competitiveness.
  • Ensure compliance with accreditation standards and regulations governing undergraduate business programs, including SCHEV and AACSB.
  • Evaluate, manage, and improve academic policies and student-service activities.
  • Resolve escalated student issues involving academic progress, petitions, and course-schedule exceptions.
  • Oversee transfer-credit course evaluation and changes to the Undergraduate Catalog.
  • Serve on the Academic Status Committee.
  • Support fundraising for undergraduate student activities and scholarships with the dean's advancement team.
  • Create and implement policies for merit- and need-based awards.
  • Develop budget goals aligned with strategic priorities.
  • Ensure expenditures remain within budget and make final decisions on late budget requests.
  • Lead undergraduate-program rankings activities by collecting and reporting accurate data, maintaining relationships with rankings publications, and communicating with survey respondents.
  • Maintain an active presence in national organizations, attend conferences, and identify speaking or panel opportunities.
  • Build relationships with colleagues at leading and emerging business programs.
  • Support University Admissions, Mason School of Business Advancement, and alumni events to cultivate undergraduate-program engagement.
  • Attend relevant board meetings and prepare and present program updates.
  • Assist University and Business School admissions and alumni or development teams at events.
  • Communicate staff expectations about departmental goals and objectives.
  • Provide constructive feedback, conduct interim evaluations, and address and document performance issues.
  • Ensure staff have the knowledge, skills, and abilities needed to accomplish goals.
  • Complete performance planning and evaluation requirements with proper documentation.
  • Review and communicate workplace safety issues.
Desired Qualifications
  • A doctorate.
  • A doctorate in Business or a Business-related field.
  • Strong understanding of the design and implementation of BMAP programs at William & Mary.
  • Experience with alumni relations.
  • Project management and organizational abilities and experience.
  • Strong understanding of business school rankings.
  • Active engagement with accrediting agencies and undergraduate-school organizations, including AACSB, NUBS, and NACADA.
  • Considerable experience and a successful record leading rankings strategy for a ranked business school.
  • Experience working closely with alumni and donors.
