Requirements
  • A Bachelor of Science or Bachelor of Arts degree is preferred, or the candidate must be pursuing a bachelor's degree with at least 15 credits in accounting.
  • High computer literacy is required; accounting software experience is a plus, and proficiency with Excel is required.
  • One to two years of accounting or general financial experience is required.
  • Well-developed oral, written, and listening communication skills are required.
  • The ability to interact effectively with various levels of staff is required.
  • Effective customer support and networking skills are required.
Responsibilities
  • Review and analyze award documents and related information in preparation for establishing accounts, and obtain college acceptance of awards when applicable.
  • Establish award accounts and validate documentation against sponsor, City University of New York, and Research Foundation requirements.
  • Perform fiscal reviews of independent contractor agreements and related documents for the Project Administrator's approval.
  • Monitor restricted sponsor funds, including disbursements, electronic personnel actions, purchase orders, consultant contracts, independent contractor agreements, released time, summer salary, and cash receipts, to confirm compliance with program requirements.
  • Assist Principal Investigators in preparing budget modifications.
  • Assist on-site and off-site auditors.
  • Maintain accounts receivable, answer billing and collection inquiries, and reconcile letters of credit and other special financial reports.
  • Assist with compliance with sponsor terms and conditions, policies, regulations, and other requirements throughout the budget period.
  • Assist in preparing interim and final billings and expenditure reports, obtain required program reports from Principal Investigators, and assist with award closeout.
  • Obtain cost-sharing data when required and maintain cost-sharing files.
  • Interact with Principal Investigators, sponsoring agencies, campus personnel, and Research Foundation staff, and assist with preparing and analyzing financial and other data reports related to project activity.
  • Participate in relevant professional activities and personal development in post-award administration.
  • Monitor relevant federal and other websites for ongoing activity related to sponsored-funds management.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Desired Qualifications
  • A Bachelor of Science or Bachelor of Arts degree is preferred.
  • Experience with accounting software is a plus.
