Requirements
Four to six years of industrial or manufacturing safety experience with general knowledge of environmental regulations.
A Bachelor of Science degree or equivalent experience in safety, environmental, or a related field.
Computer operation skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and the ability to learn new software systems.
Strong analytical, interpersonal, and communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
Knowledge of Occupational Safety and Health Administration, Environmental Protection Agency, and workers’ compensation regulations and practices.
Ability to perform the stated physical and environmental requirements, including occasional lifting of less than 20 pounds and exposure to industrial conditions.
Ability to wear required personal protective equipment, including safety glasses or a face shield, metatarsal safety toe boots, gloves, a hardhat, fire-resistant clothing, a half-face or full-face respirator, and a fall harness.
Responsibilities
Ensure the facility complies with occupational safety and health regulations, environmental regulations, and corporate safety and health policies and programs.
Conduct facility audits, inspections, and employee engagements to verify compliance with environmental health and safety regulatory and corporate requirements.
Assist and advise facilities regarding workers’ compensation and incident investigation-related issues.
Assist corporate environmental engineers with data acquisition for reporting and permitting.
Promote safety awareness and regularly participate in facility safety activities.
Lead monthly safety training activities.
Coordinate, oversee, and/or conduct industrial hygiene monitoring and medical surveillance programs.
Prepare monthly environmental health and safety reports.
Enter monthly environmental health and safety data into environmental health and safety tracking software.

HWI has a fantastic opportunity to join our EHS team as a Plant Environmental Health and Safety Administrator III. In this exciting role you will be responsible for ensuring compliance with safety and health regulations, while also leading plant safety.
Summary The Plant Environmental Health and Safety Administrator III is a specialized and critical position accountable for contributing to HarbisonWalker International overall business performance by ensuring compliance with occupational safety and health regulations, environmental regulations and corporate policies and programs in HarbisonWalker International’s production facility. This role is responsible for leading plant safety team and company/union safety team.
Responsibilities
Ensuring facility is in compliance with occupational safety & health regulations, environmental regulations, and corporate safety & health policies and programs.

Requirements

Requires BS degree or equivalent experience in safety/environmental or a related field

Knowledge of OSHA, EPA, and workers’ compensation regulations and practices
Physical and Environmental Requirements
Physical Activity: Requires more than 2/3 of time talking or hearing; 1/3 to 2/3 of time standing, walking and / or sitting; and less than 1/3 of time using hands and fingers, reaching, climbing/balancing, stooping/kneeling /crouching/crawling; and smelling.
Lifting: Requires Some light lifting on occasion <20lbs.
Vision: Requires accurate close and distance vision, color and peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to focus.
Environment: Requires 1/3 to 2/3 of time working near moving mechanical parts and less than 1/3 of time exposed to a heavy hot or cold industrial environment, in an office setting, working in high, precarious places, exposed to outdoor weather.
Noise: Requires exposure to moderate noise.
