Requirements
Be a New Zealand Registered Nurse or Paramedic with a current practising certificate.
Have a background in paramedicine or general nursing and at least 3 years of post-registration experience.
Have excellent communication skills.

Be confident working with technology, tools, and resources.

Responsibilities
Provide secondary triage to patients who may not require an ambulance and may need alternative care pathways or self-care advice.
Triage patients over the telephone, assess callers, and help them take appropriate action or access the correct level of care for a given problem.
Give advice and support that respects backgrounds and cultures.
Comply with nursing or paramedic codes of conduct and best practice, including respecting patient confidentiality, privacy, and individual needs.
Record caller information in the database, follow clinical guidelines, and use decision support software.
Work a variety of shifts to provide 24/7 support over the phone and online for healthcare services.

Whakarongorau Aotearoa is a fast-growing leader in Aotearoa New Zealand’s telehealth landscape. We bring together a range of national helplines, including supporting the crucial Ambulance 111 Emergency Call Centres.
As a 24/7 service, flexibility to work a variety of shifts is essential. We are looking for someone who can work anywhere between 1800-0630, shifts are generally 10-hour or 12-hour shift.

As an Emergency Triage Nurse/Paramedic, you'll be offering essential health and well-being support and advice to people right across New Zealand. You'll join a dynamic and specialist team, working in shifts to provide 24/7 support over the phone and online for a range of healthcare services.
This role will suit those attracted to working autonomously and independently to apply their well-honed triage skills.

Qualifications

New Zealand Registered Nurse or Paramedic with a current practising certificate.
