Requirements
  • A Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance is required.
  • Three years of experience as an accountant, financial analyst, or equivalent are required.
  • Knowledge of hospital and physician payment methodologies is required.
  • Proficiency with personal computers in a Windows environment and various mainframe and PC-based software applications is required.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word is required.
  • The ability to function cooperatively as part of the finance team and respond flexibly to changing demands and priorities is required.
  • Effective written and oral communication skills are required, with the ability to communicate complete, concise, and understandable information to department managers, finance staff, and external audiences.
Responsibilities
  • Assist in preparing accurate, complete, and understandable financial information for timely distribution to internal and external users, including service-line and business-unit financial performance reports, payer financial performance reports, decision-support data interpretation and presentation, net revenue and reimbursement computations, payer-contract supporting computations, budget proposals and development, monthly actual-to-budget analysis, business plans, and look-back reviews.
  • Assist in annual operating budget preparation for the hospitals and LVHS activities and perform monthly actual-to-budget analysis under the direction of the Budget Manager.
  • Maintain financial systems, decision-support systems, and financial or statistical elements of related systems supporting budgeting, financial analysis, net revenue, and reimbursement.
  • Participate in applying software and hardware upgrades to the systems as appropriate.
  • Participate in the monthly financial-statement close and prepare monthly financial statements as assigned under the direction of the Assistant Controller, including determining net revenue, analyzing expenses, valuing accounts receivable, and developing supporting documentation.
  • Report, budget, project, and forecast volume utilization by program, physician, and clinical department as required.
  • Serve as a resource to Finance management on ad hoc projects and perform other assigned duties.
  • Prepare analyses and other customer information in a concise and understandable manner.
  • Respond to customer inquiries on the day received when possible and no later than the following day.
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience in budgeting, capital-project financial analysis, net revenue and reimbursement computations, decision support, and financial reporting is desirable.
