Requirements
  • A college degree or seven or more years of experience handling claims in a relevant line of business, including Construction Defect claims.
  • Basic knowledge of claims handling and familiarity with claims terminology.
  • Effective negotiation skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to deal positively with claimants, customers, insureds, brokers, attorneys, and other parties concerning losses.

Responsibilities
  • Receive claim assignments.
  • Review claim and policy information to provide investigation background and determine the extent of the policy's obligation to the insured, depending on the line of business.
  • Contact, interview, and obtain recorded or in-person statements from insureds, claimants, witnesses, physicians, attorneys, police officers, and other parties to secure necessary claim information.
  • Inspect and appraise damage for property losses or arrange for appraisals, depending on the line of business.
  • Evaluate investigation facts to determine the insured's liability and the company's obligation under the policy contract.
  • Prepare investigation, settlement, claim denial, and individual party evaluation reports.
  • Set reserves within authority limits and recommend reserve changes to the Claims Team Leader.
  • Review claim progress and status with the Claims Team Leader and discuss problems and remedial actions.
  • Prepare and submit unusual or potentially undesirable exposures to the Claims Team Leader.
  • Assist the Claims Team Leader in developing methods and improvements for handling claims.
  • Settle claims promptly and equitably.
  • Obtain releases, proofs of loss, or compensation agreements and issue company drafts for claim payments.
  • Inform claimants, insureds, customers, or attorneys of claim denials when applicable.
  • Assist the Claims Team Leader and company attorneys in preparing cases for trial by arranging witness attendance and taking statements, while continuing efforts to settle claims before trial.
  • Refer claims to subrogation as appropriate and arrange salvage disposition or other recovery proceedings as necessary.
  • Participate in claim file reviews and audits with customers, insureds, and brokers.
  • Administer benefits timely and appropriately.
  • Maintain control of the claim resolution process to minimize current exposure and future risks.
  • Establish and maintain customer relations.
  • Maintain system logs, depending on the line of business.
  • Investigate compensability and benefit entitlement, depending on the line of business.
  • Review and approve medical bill payments, depending on the line of business.
  • Manage vocational rehabilitation, depending on the line of business.

Vaultik partners with Chubb to offer AI-powered watch and jewellery authentication, valuation and insurance

Vaultik has partnered with Chubb to streamline the process of authenticating, valuing, and insuring watches and jewellery. Through Vaultik's platform, owners can photograph their items and receive AI-powered authentication and valuation results, reviewed by experts at Birmingham Assay Office. Eligible customers can then request insurance quotes from Chubb and purchase coverage digitally within the same application. The collaboration addresses a traditionally fragmented process that typically requires separate appointments for appraisal and insurance. The service is available through Vaultik's Collect App and can be offered by retailers, jewellers, and marketplace sellers. Vaultik currently partners with WhatNot and eBay Live. Vaultik's KYP protocol generates authentication and valuation outputs from photographs, whilst Birmingham Assay Office provides specialist review. Chubb underwrites the insurance coverage for eligible items.

Consolidated net premiums written reached $14.7 billion, up 3.6%. The property and casualty (P&C) segment posted net premiums written of $12.77 billion, up 3.0%. P&C underwriting income increased 18.8% to $1.94 billion, with a combined ratio of 83.8%. North America Personal and Agriculture both grew 6.0%, whilst Overseas General climbed 10.2%.
