Requirements
  • A minimum of 10+ years of relevant hands-on distributed control system and programmable logic controller plant automation experience.
  • A technical diploma or degree in Automation, Instrumentation, Electrical, or a related discipline; an equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
  • OEM control system training or certification is considered an asset.
  • Previous Yokogawa integrated control and safety system experience is considered an asset.
  • Previous liquefied natural gas or gas processing experience is considered an asset.
  • Experience with industrial instrumentation, electrical, and control domains is considered an asset.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in industrial programming.
  • A valid driver's license with abstract and a passport.
  • Must be legally entitled to work in Canada.
  • Demonstrated computer knowledge with experience in SAP, Microsoft Outlook, Microsoft Word, and Microsoft Excel.
  • Ability to work at a site-based industrial location, including indoor warehouse and outdoor yard work, potential exposure to heavy equipment, industrial noise, and varying weather conditions, and extended working hours as operational needs require.
Responsibilities
  • Own the day-to-day availability, uptime, and operational health of plant automation and control systems, including integrated control and safety systems and packaged programmable logic controller systems.
  • Provide hands-on troubleshooting and technical support for automation-related issues during commissioning, start-up, operations, outages, and turnarounds.
  • Execute approved control system changes and upgrades in compliance with the Management of Change process and applicable technical authority approvals.
  • Configure, maintain, and support automation systems, including control logic, graphics, alarms, system interfaces, and operating parameters.
  • Support the integration and ongoing operation of packaged programmable logic controller systems within the integrated control and safety system environment.
  • Maintain the operational health of automation infrastructure, including control servers, virtual machines, automation networks, backups, patches, and disaster-recovery readiness.
  • Carry out operational technology cybersecurity activities in accordance with corporate policy and framework.
  • Maintain and support historian and automation data systems, including tag configuration, data quality, and reliable data flows.
  • Provide technical execution support for control philosophy implementation, including alarm management and advanced control initiatives such as Advanced Process Control, Model Predictive Control, and Advanced Regulatory Control.
  • Support the execution and troubleshooting of safety systems, including Safety Instrumented Systems, Fire and Gas systems, and automation field interface systems such as PRM and HART multiplexers.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to diagnose and resolve instrumentation, electrical, and control-related plant issues.
  • Act as a technical interface between Operations, Maintenance, Engineering, Information Technology, and vendors for automation-related matters.
  • Comply with company health, safety, security, and environmental policies and guidelines.
  • Champion health, safety, security, and environmental practices as a member of the LNG Operations Team.
  • Lead HSE shift meetings, safety walks, or audits when required.
  • Intervene promptly to mitigate risks and ensure the safety of personnel and the plant.
  • Ensure safeguarding-system checklists are implemented and completed by Shift Operations at agreed frequencies and standards.
  • Execute the plant-wide operations hazards-awareness program.
  • Provide input to the plant risk register and mitigation-tracking process for operations.

  • Previous commissioning, start-up, and turnaround experience.
