Principal Machine Learning Engineer
About the job
- 12–15+ years of software engineering experience, with progression from backend or distributed systems architecture into applied production machine learning engineering.
- Deep production machine learning experience, including MLOps, model evaluation rubrics, advanced retrieval-augmented generation, vector search with embeddings, HNSW and hybrid search, and fine-tuning.
- Strong mastery of distributed systems, microservices, and asynchronous event-driven patterns using Python, Go, or TypeScript.
- Hands-on command of Docker, cloud infrastructure such as AWS, GCP, or Azure, and automated CI/CD pipelines.
- Practical knowledge of large language model safety, threat modeling, data boundary enforcement, and agent security.
- Fluent English and the ability to explain complex technical trade-offs clearly to client executives and non-technical stakeholders.
- Deploy and manage AI models at scale, monitoring performance, hallucination rates, drift, latency, and infrastructure costs.
- Design distributed, event-driven microservices using Python, Go, or TypeScript, and build infrastructure-as-code and CI/CD pipelines to ship services.
- Implement agent permission structures, human-in-the-loop workflows, data isolation boundaries, and prompt injection defenses.
- Partner with Product Managers from inception to translate business requirements into scalable architectures and present trade-offs to executives.
- Design scalable multi-tenant architectures, build AI agent governance frameworks, and serve as a technical authority collaborating with product managers and client stakeholders.
- Prior experience with multi-agent orchestration frameworks such as LlamaIndex, Semantic Kernel, AutoGen, CrewAI, or MCP.
- Experience in fast-paced consulting, advisory, or high-growth technology platforms.
