Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering required- Mechanical or Electrical preferred
  • 7+ years of engineering experience in Internal Combustion Engines
  • Expertise in 1D modeling and simulation of engine systems
  • Expertise in translating physical phenomena and behaviors into virtual models
  • Demonstrated technical leadership capability, including ability to: Successfully lead large and/or difficult projects to completion, Organize teams around challenging issues and projects, Communicate clearly and succinctly to leadership and customers
Responsibilities
  • Provide technical direction and mentoring to Virtual Propulsion Engineers working on virtual design, development, and validation of engine subsystems and valvetrain
  • Interface with Virtual Propulsion Engineers, Product Release Teams, Architects, Advanced Engineers and Technical Specialists to develop optimal design solutions that meet all requirements
  • Own engine model guidelines, simulation best practices, version control, and technical review processes
  • Lead modeling capability development initiatives and technical strategic vision for the team
  • Integrate new processes and methods into engineering Standard Work
  • Provide training for new and existing analysis procedures
  • Seek out state of the art tools and methods, keep up with industry trends to ensure our team is at the leading edge
  • Support Code Red and urgent break/fix product issues
  • Support analysis project technical reviews and PPDRs
  • Interface with other Virtual Engineering groups to establish common processes (model types, model storage/versioning, signal naming)
  • Be a change agent to move left and to enable hardware reduction initiatives
  • Communicate status to leadership and escalating issues/roadblocks within the organization as necessary to meet timing
Desired Qualifications
  • Master’s degree in engineering preferred
  • Experience with development of advanced engine technology
  • Experience with engine, transmission, or electrification controls development, calibration, and verification/validation
  • Experience with engine valvetrain design and analysis
  • Experience with model-based calibration, empirical data modeling, data analysis, and/or programming
  • DFSS Black Belt certification
