Located in Vancouver, BC, 2K Sports Lab is a small collective being formed within 2K Games that is driving the research and development of future sports interactive entertainment programs. Within this group, speculative work will be done on future sports games with an eye towards taking the magic of 2K’s publishing and development expertise and applying them to future opportunities.

What We Need
We’re looking for a versatile Technical Artist to join our growing team. Helping bridge the gap between our engineering and art teams. This role requires experience and artistic versatility to handle a variety of technical art challenges. You will collaborate with the art team to improve the look and feel of our game using Unreal Engine 5. You’ll also assist with developing exporter tools, UE Blueprints, and shaders maintaining performance issues while supporting the more technical aspects of crafting art.
What You’ll Do
- Enjoy creative problem-solving and have the chance to create prototypes and iterate on your work by using UE 5.
- Partner with our Leads and Artists, to establish high performing content workflows and any tools further the quality of life of Artists.
- Ensure that solutions are optimized following the aspired style, technical requirements and production constraints while crafting and maintaining verbose workflow documentation and training materials for your work.
- Identify and resolve technical art issues in a broad range of areas, including: characters, environments, tools/scripting, procedural/automation, shaders, lighting, VFX, renderings, physics.
- Communicate daily with all teams to ensure the technical art remains in alignment with the project goals.
What Will Make You an excellent Fit:
- Proven experience as a Technical Artist with 4+ years of experience and with at least 1 AAA shipped title (preferably in Unreal Engine).
- Experience using node-based shader networks such as those found in Unreal Editor with solid understanding of PBR workflows.
- Knowledge of CgFX, HLSL, or CG from a technical artist’s perspective.
- Proficiency in modern industry standard 3d Software, including Substance Designer/Painter, Houdini, and Maya.
- Experience working with UE Blueprints building tools for Artists.
- Basic understanding of Python or experience writing content tools for Maya.
The pay range for this position in British Columbia at the start of employment is expected to be between CAD $70,400 and CAD $105,600 per year. However, actual pay offered is based on market location and may vary further depending on individualized factors for job candidates, such as job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and other objective business considerations.
