Requirements
  • Graduate of an accredited medical school and completion of residency and/or fellowship in the area of specialty.
  • Current or recent experience in the area of specialty.
  • MD or DO license from the state licensure board in the state of practice.
  • Board Certified or Board Eligible in the area of specialty by the appropriate medical board.
Responsibilities
  • Provide comprehensive, high-quality, cost-effective medical services for patients in practice and hospital settings on a continuing basis.
  • Participate in quality, patient satisfaction, and performance improvement initiatives.
  • Perform history and physical examinations of patients.
  • Provide care based on evidence-based medicine and make best efforts to adhere to standardized orders and practice guidelines approved by the medical staff.
  • Assess, treat, and communicate appropriately according to the age and development of the patient.
  • Communicate regularly, in a timely and appropriate manner, with referring physicians, patients, and families.
  • Educate patients and families.
  • Evaluate and implement patient health care needs; perform routine examinations and obtain patient histories; manage treatment programs based on assessed needs; initiate treatment through prescriptions, diagnostic tests, examinations, and procedures; review lab results and plan actions; and perform routine health maintenance activities for new and established patients.
  • Coordinate patient care and make referrals to physicians, nurses, psychologists, nutritionists, and others as needed; collaborate and communicate with other professionals, nurses, physicians, and outside agencies about patient care.
  • Coordinate patient care and family counseling with public and mental health agencies as appropriate.
  • Teach wellness habits and educate patients about preventing potential health problems or managing existing problems; provide information and materials related to patient health care needs.
  • Maintain knowledge of current medical practices and skills.
  • Maintain confidentiality of materials handled within the Network or Entity and ensure proper release of information.
  • Comply with Network and departmental policies on employee, patient, and environmental safety and follow applicable reporting requirements.
