Requirements
  • Must be able to float between all units of two approved pods: Medical Surgical Observation (Med/Surg), Ortho, Surgical, Medical/Oncology, Intermediate Care (IMC), and PCCU.
  • A diploma or Associate’s degree in Nursing (ADN) is required.
  • One year of experience in an equivalent area is required for the Med/Surg Pod.
  • One year of IMC or equivalent experience is required for the IMC Pod.
  • Experience must include sufficient orientation to and demonstrated annual competencies for basic and advanced hemodynamics and pacemakers.
  • For the Med/Surg Pod, a current Oklahoma Registered Nurse license, Basic Life Support (BLS), and National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification are required.
  • For the IMC Pod, a current Oklahoma Registered Nurse license, BLS, and NIHSS are required, along with Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and basic electrocardiogram (EKG) interpretation certification within six months of hire.
  • BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications must be maintained through retraining for the duration of employment.
Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with other health professionals in assessing and managing patient care.
  • Assess and reassess patients’ healthcare needs based on age group and patient condition.
  • Analyze assessment data to determine nursing diagnoses and expected outcomes.
  • Establish goals, care strategies, and priorities of care.
  • Provide nursing care through interventions that achieve patient goals and needs, using professional judgment guided by current practice standards, rules, regulations, and policies.
  • Delegate tasks safely and provide safe direct and indirect nursing care.
  • Evaluate patient responses and outcomes using critical thinking and evidence-based knowledge.
  • Discharge patients and coordinate care as appropriate.
  • Perform additional nursing functions consistent with knowledge and skills acquired beyond basic nursing preparation.
  • Provide care in intermediate care and medical-surgical settings across the flex pool.
Desired Qualifications
  • A Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) or Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) is preferred.
