According to company leaders, the results highlighted Lottomatica's "consistency in growth." Lottomatica's H1 was a period of strength. In its report, Lottomatica said that its total handle for the H1 period was EUR 24 billion ($27.3 billion), up 9% year-on-year. This was driven by a 12% growth in online bets, the company clarified. In the meantime, Lottomatica's gross gaming revenue (GGR) reached EUR 2.4 billion ($2.73 billion) for the period, up 2% year-on-year. This figure means that the company's total online market share, iSports market share, and iGaming market share for Q2 were 31.6%, 31.8%, and 31.6%, respectively. Lottomatica's revenues, on the other hand, were approximately EUR 1.2 billion ($1.36 billion) for H1, up 5% year-on-year. Online revenues reached EUR 525 million ($597.1 million), up 12% year-on-year. Lottomatica's sports franchise and gaming franchise, on the other hand, reported revenues of EUR 275 million ($312.8 million) (down 1% year-on-year) and EUR 380 million ($432.2 million) (down 2% year-on-year), respectively. For Q2, the revenues of the online segment, the sports franchise, and the gaming franchise were EUR 260 million ($295.7 million) (+17%), EUR 133 million ($151.3 million) (+3%), and EUR 185 million ($210.4 million) (-3%). Lottomatica targets top end of 2026 guidance as H1 profits jump 10%.

Lottomatica targets top end of 2026 guidance as H1 profits jump 10%. Lottomatica reiterated it expects adjusted EBITDA at the top end of its €930-€970m 2026 guidance after H1 adjusted EBITDA rose 10% to €465.3m. Strong online performance revenue up 13% to €525.1m and higher online market share drove the result. Online growth supports Lottomatica's H1 earnings outlook. Lottomatica kept its full-year adjusted EBITDA guidance unchanged after reporting higher revenue, profit and online market share in the first half of 2026. The Italian operator said performance for the six months to 30 June was driven by its online division, which offset softer results in gaming and sports. Group revenue reached €1.18bn in H1, up 5% year-on-year. Adjusted EBITDA rose 10% to €465.3m, while adjusted net profit, excluding acquisition-related and other non-recurring items, came to €196m. Full-year guidance remains unchanged. Following the first-half result, Lottomatica reiterated its expectation to deliver adjusted EBITDA at the top end of its 2026 guidance range. The company had previously set full-year adjusted EBITDA guidance at between €930m and €970m. Pre-tax profit for the six-month period increased 67% to €181m. After €65m in income tax, statutory net profit rose 70% year-on-year to €116m, while profit attributable to owners of the parent company climbed 64% to €112.9m. Online division drives revenue and share gains. Online revenue increased 13% to €525.1m during the half. Online gross gaming revenue, a measure of wagering revenue after winnings are paid out, rose 11% to €916m, while online bets grew 12% to €16.2bn. Market share also moved higher in Italy's online segment during the second quarter. Lottomatica reported total online market share of 31.6%, up 1.1 percentage points year-on-year. Its online sports betting share reached 31.8%, while its iGaming share stood at 31.6%. Retail segments post declines. Outside online, the group's other divisions recorded weaker revenue trends. Gaming revenue fell 2% to €380m, with gross gaming revenue down 3% to €1.15bn and total bets slipping 2% to €5.3bn. Sports revenue edged down 1% to €275m and sports gross gaming revenue declined 2% to €352m. Betting volume still rose 10% to €2.2bn, helped by the 2026 FIFA World Cup in the latter part of the period. Management points to margin expansion. Across the full business, gross gaming revenue increased 2% to €2.4bn and total bets rose 9% to €23.7bn. Online adjusted EBITDA margin improved to 57.9%, compared with 54.1% in the first half of 2025. Guglielmo Angelozzi, chairman and CEO at Lottomatica, commented: "Q2 of 2026 continues to show our consistency in growth on all key financial and business metrics. We have seen adjusted EBITDA growth in every quarter in the last 10 years - except during Covid restrictions - continuous and substantial margins increase on the back of a consistently growing online market and market share."

Trump tariffs temper light & wonder expectations.

Trump tariffs temper light & wonder expectations. Flutter and Lottomatica neck-and-neck in fierce fight for Italian market share. 7 May 2026 The battle for market share in Italy is intensifying as Lottomatica and Flutter go to battle in the newly formed online gambling landscape. Although Lottomatica retains a slender advantage of 31.8% compared to Flutter's reported 31%, Flutter will be buoyed by its trajectory in Italy. Domestic giant Lottomatica has long held the number one status in Italy. However, Flutter has continued to push to rip up the script and rewrite the status quo in Europe's second-largest gaming market. Flutter efforts were fuelled by completing the acquisition of Snaitech in April 2025 to sit alongside its other Italian brands such as Sisal, Pokerstars, Tombola and Betfair. Updating investors, Chief Executive Officer Peter Jackson described Flutter as the 'clear number one operator online', emphasising that the group is 'outgrowing the market and its main competitors'. In particular, he hailed engagement on Sisal of the MyCombo product, which allows players to build custom football accumulator bets pre-match. According to Flutter, multi-leg bets accounted for half of Sisal's pre-match football wagering. Flutter continues to grow. Data released in January by Agipro placed Flutter as holding a 26.5% market share in December, a month after control of the market transitioned to the Customs and Monopolies Agency (ADM) under a new licensing system. An almost 5% gain since the beginning of the year indicates the wave of momentum that Flutter is experiencing in Italy, and will serve as a stark reminder of the challenge facing Lottomatica. For comparison, Lottomatica ended 2025 with an online market share of 31.3%, meaning the firm has gained just 0.5% over a similar period of time. On Flutter's Italy performance, Jackson noted that Snaitech is yet to benefit from the migration of customers to Flutter's SEA platform, which was completed at the end of April. He added: "I'm very excited about the outlook for the rest of the year in Italy, with Sisal's ongoing, exceptional performance and the unlocking of Sisal's market-leading products for Snaitech following the platform migration." Alongside Flutter, Lottomatica is also looking over its shoulder at a number of other international operators that are seeking to grow in the renewed Italian market. Betsson, for example, reported record Q1 revenue in Italy and continues to gain market share. Meanwhile, multinationals bet365 and Entain, through Eurobet, also have a presence in Italy. Despite these concerns, it's not all doom and gloom for Lottomatica as the group reported 10% year-on-year growth in revenue to €265m (£229m) for its online gaming segment. Overall gross gaming revenue experienced modest growth of 2% YoY to €1.24bn (£1.1bn). Strong growth across some of Italy's largest operators indicates the overall strength of the online gaming market, which is now made up of 46 operators holding 52 licences collectively following the changes. Encompassing both the old and new regimes, spending in the Italian market grew by over 15% to €3.2bn (£2.76bn) in 2025 compared to €2.8bn (£2.42bn) in 2024. Questions still to answer. While Italy's market appears to be shaping up well under this new ADM era, questions still remain over key advertising laws, in particular the 2018 Dignity Decree. Under the legislation, sponsorship by gambling companies is completely prohibited. However, proposals have been submitted to repeal certain sections of the laws in a bid to revitalise Italian sport through the economic potential offered by gambling marketing spend. ADM and the Senate's Culture Commission are currently reviewing the prohibition as it seeks to strike a balance between consumer protection and marketing visibility. Industry voices have argued that reducing the visibility of the regulated sector has inadvertently fueled the growth of Italy's significant back market, estimated to be worth approximately €1bn annually.

Early figures from the new market have suggested a steady performance for online casinos but less so for online betting, while some key regulatory matters such as retail gaming and marketing remain unsettled. In its Q1 update, Lottomatica revealed 2% year-over-year growth for gross gaming revenue to €1.24bn [$1.45bn], with overall revenue growth of 3% to €602m [$707m] with the most impressive growth recorded for the online gaming division. Product-by-product online revenue was up 10% to €265m, while its Gaming franchise recorded the same revenue as last year, €195m, and revenue for its sports franchise dipped 5% from €150.4m to €142m.
