Requirements
  • A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • A certificate signifying successful completion of the requirements for Master Black Belt, Black Belt, or Green Belt is required.
  • A minimum of consecutive employment in a position with comparable responsibilities in quality control management within the past five years is required.
  • Proficiency in oral and written English communication is required.
  • Ability to use a computer to communicate via email is required.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel is required.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of commercial quality control plans is required.
  • Knowledge of Lean Six Sigma tools and methodology is required.
  • Ability to apply Lean Six Sigma knowledge across a broad spectrum of processes is required.
  • Knowledge or experience with drafting services and Computer Aided Engineering Graphics support, engineering drawing preparation and maintenance, and online engineering library maintenance is required.
  • Ability to become proficient in FAA National Airspace System systems and equipment, support documentation, and work processes is required.
Responsibilities
  • Provide quality improvement services using Lean Six Sigma methodology and techniques to the Federal Aviation Administration Logistics Center.
  • Facilitate, plan, coordinate, review, evaluate, and report activities supporting organizational continual improvement projects.
  • Identify and remove the causes of defects and errors in FAA Logistics Center processes using Lean Six Sigma techniques to eliminate process waste.
  • Function as a project manager, facilitator, consultant, and analyst as necessary.
  • Facilitate problem assessments, compile and analyze data, develop improvement teams, design and collect metrics, and facilitate improvement efforts.
  • Implement the active daily management approach to sustain performance improvement, including standard work, daily critical-to-quality metrics, visual management, rounding schedules, and huddles.
  • Work with champions and senior leaders to identify, select, and scope quality improvement projects.
  • Conduct quality improvement projects using Lean Six Sigma methods and techniques to improve current and future processes.
  • Facilitate process-owner teams in developing value stream maps of current processes and eliminating non-value-added steps.
  • Develop or revise metrics to measure improvement in FAA Logistics Center processes.
  • Report the status of quality improvement projects to senior leaders.
  • Identify and implement enterprise-wide process improvement activities using Lean Six Sigma, Plan-Do-Study-Act, or similar methodologies.
  • Support the development, prioritization, and execution of performance improvement projects using Lean Six Sigma, Plan-Do-Study-Act, or similar methodologies.
  • Assist with implementing and training functional areas on process engineering maintenance plans and staff training.
  • Collect, monitor, and evaluate project key performance metrics and develop project status reports.
  • Facilitate cross-functional improvement teams following the Define, Measure, Analyze, Improve, Control roadmap or a similar improvement process.
  • Communicate process design and implementation gaps to upper management and support compliance, quality, and continuous improvement requirements.
  • Provide technical support related to drafting services, engineering drawing preparation and maintenance, technical library maintenance, logistics analysis, management and program analysis, and project management as assigned.
  • Attend requisite in-service training and complete proficiency training on FAA National Airspace System systems, equipment, documentation, and work processes.
Desired Qualifications
  • A Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial Engineering or Industrial Technology is highly desired.
  • A master's degree in Business or Process Administration is preferred.
  • Two to three years of increasingly responsible experience in operational management or operational consulting is preferred or required for the key qualifications.
  • A proven track record in operations and project management, operational program development, planning, and process improvement is required for the key qualifications.
  • Understanding of Lean, including the Toyota Production System, and Six Sigma methodology.
  • Understanding of process delivery, strategy, business planning, operations, and financial conditions.
  • Expertise in process delivery, accreditation standards, assigned functions, and operational and capital budget development and management.
  • Ability to integrate functions with business plans.
  • Ability to build, attract, and develop a superior management team.
