It differentiates itself by focusing on immigrant communities, offering competitive rates and fast, secure transfers, plus promotions and a user-friendly experience. Its goal is to provide affordable, transparent, and convenient remittance services worldwide while supporting the needs and financial education of immigrant communities.

Remitly secures UAE Stored Value Facilities license to expand Middle East fintech footprint. Quick summary. Remitly has secured a Stored Value Facilities license from the Central Bank of the UAE (CBUAE), allowing the fintech leader to offer enhanced cross-border financial services. This milestone enables Remitly to introduce purpose-built products for the UAE's $50 billion remittance market, supporting the nation's 'We the UAE 2031' digital vision. How does the SVF license benefit UAE remittance customers? The Stored Value Facilities license grants Remitly the regulatory authority to expand beyond simple money transfers into more comprehensive digital wallet solutions. By securing Exchange Business Category IV status, Remitly can now develop purpose-built financial products tailored specifically to the diverse expatriate workforce in the Emirates. This move is critical in a market that moves an estimated $50 billion annually across borders. * Increased transfer limits for high-volume users. * Transparent upfront fee structures and competitive exchange rates. * Enhanced speed and reliability for 175+ global destinations. Remitly currently serves 9.6 million quarterly users globally, and this license provides the legal framework to deepen those relationships within the Middle East. The authorization follows a rigorous review process, ensuring that the platform meets the high regulatory standards set by the CBUAE for cross-border financial services. What role does Remitly play in the 'we the UAE 2031' vision? Remitly's expansion directly aligns with the UAE's strategic goal to double the digital economy contribution to GDP over the next decade. By establishing a regulated global footprint in Abu Dhabi, Remitly supports the country's ambition to become a global fintech leader. The CBUAE's dedicated digital remittance category is specifically designed to attract globally minded operators who are committed to long-term regional investment. "The UAE is one of the most important remittance regions in the world, and receiving our CBUAE license is a defining moment for Remitly", said Davis Dominic Parakal, UAE CEO at Remitly. "We are grateful for the rigorous engagement with CBUAE throughout this process and are proud to operate to the high bar it has set for the industry. We are here to build something valuable for the diverse communities across the UAE." How is Remitly scaling its global money movement platform? The acquisition of the UAE license is a pivotal step in Remitly's transition from a pure-play remittance firm to a diversified financial provider. Over the last twelve months, the company facilitated over $80 billion in send volume, proving the scalability of its global money movement platform. This regional growth allows Remitly to better serve historically underserved populations who rely on fast, fair, and transparent access to capital. * Presence in 175+ countries worldwide. * Focus on digital-first financial inclusion. * Strategic long-term growth in high-volume corridors. Ff news take: This move definitely moves the needle for Remitly. Securing a Stored Value Facilities license in the UAE isn't just a regulatory win; it's a land grab in one of the world's most lucrative cross-border financial services corridors. By moving into the SVF space, Remitly is positioning itself to compete directly with local exchange houses and global banks, transforming from a transactional tool into a central hub for the UAE's massive migrant financial ecosystem. Standing together against scams: Remitly at the GASA Europe Summit 2026. As scams continue to threaten consumers worldwide, Remitly joined financial institutions, regulators, and consumer advocates at the Global Anti-Scam Alliance (GASA) Europe Summit in Lisbon last week, part of a growing cross-industry effort to fight back. Remitly joined financial institutions, regulators, and consumer advocates at the Global Anti-Scam Alliance (GASA) Europe Summit in Lisbon last week, part of a growing cross-industry effort to tackle one of the most pressing issues facing consumers globally: scams. The Scale of the Problem. The numbers are sobering. According to GASA, globally, 13% of people encounter a scam every single day - rising to nearly one in four in South and North America. In Europe, three in four adults encountered a scam in the past year, with average losses for those who fall victim $2,735 USD and a total of $57 billion lost across the continent in 12 months alone. Beyond the financial toll, 45% of victims worldwide report a significant impact on their mental wellbeing. For Remitly's customers, many of whom are immigrants sending money internationally for housing, school fees, and medical care, the stakes are even higher. This community is disproportionately targeted by scammers who exploit the trust and urgency behind a transfer. These statistics represent real harm to the people Remitly Inc. exist to serve. What Remitly Inc. is Doing About It. Its response is built on three fronts. First, machine learning models evaluate thousands of transactions per hour in real time, detecting patterns associated with identity theft and payments fraud, and catching scams in the process. When a customer reports a scam, that report feeds directly back into this work, so every case Remitly Inc. learn about makes Remitly Inc. better at catching the next one. Second, Remitly Inc. has invested in real-time scam detection that operates within the send flow itself, giving customers the opportunity to pause before a transaction completes when an elevated risk is identified. Acting before funds move, rather than after, is where the most meaningful protection happens. These efforts have led to meaningful reductions in reported scam losses globally, with significant year-on-year improvements in countries with some of the highest scam exposure. Third, and perhaps most critically, Remitly Inc. invest in its customers. The summit made clear that when a customer has been scammed, how they are treated defines everything. At Remitly, 24/7 phone support is available in 18 languages - because no one who has just lost money to a scammer should have to navigate an automated system. "Consumer protection has to be built by design into every interaction," said Martyn Saville, Consumer Duty Expert at Remitly. "Our customers are navigating complex financial decisions often in a second language, in a new country, or in an emergency. The bar has to be high, not just because regulation demands it, but because it's the right thing to do." Protect Yourself. Remitly Inc. want to make sure its customers have what they need to help protect themselves. Some of its resources include: * Remitly Trust & Safety Centre: Your go-to hub for understanding how to avoid scams and what to do if something doesn't feel right. * Remitly Blog: Practical guides and advice on staying safe when sending money internationally. * Don't Get Scammed FM: A dedicated radio station on the hidden risks of informal money transfers and why using trusted, regulated services matters. * Quids English: Remitly's plain-language glossary of 25 of the most common and confusing financial phrases, so its customers can navigate financial conversations with confidence. Scammers operate as networks and so should those fighting against them. Remitly is committed to doing its part. Download & copy. Contact the PR team. Need help? Remitly's Global Impact team on partnering with the Red Cross: "We're building trust, community by community" From disaster response to preparedness, a partnership built around showing up when it matters. June 08, 2026 By Kristin Goodwillie, Northwest Region For Mallory Boulter, an American Red Cross Tiffany Circle member and VP of Global Impact at Remitly and Kiana van Waes, Trust Programs Lead at Remitly, the connection between their work and the Red Cross mission comes down to trust and a shared commitment to helping communities. Founded in 2011 and headquartered in Seattle, Remitly, is a digital remittance service that enables international money transfers from and to the United States. "Our customers and their loved ones are located in over 175 countries, and when you compare that to the regions the Red Cross operates in, there's a striking overlap," says van Waes. "The regions our customers call home are so often the same regions hit hardest by disasters. Partnering with an organization that is already present, already trusted, and already working in those communities felt like an extension of our vision." That overlap makes the partnership a natural fit. Both organizations work alongside communities rather than stepping in only when disaster strikes. "Remitly isn't just a transaction, and the Red Cross isn't just a relief operation," Boulter said. "We're both establishing trust, built relationship by relationship, community by community." That trust shows up in how Remitly supports customers during emergencies. When disasters hit, the company has waived transfer fees to help families send money fast. "Speed matters because the financial reality of disaster doesn't wait," van Waes said. The goal is simple: make sure sending money during a crisis doesn't add to the burden. Remitly focuses on helping funds move quickly, securely, and reliably to the people who need them most. That shared philosophy, supporting people in crisis while also strengthening preparedness, has only deepened the partnership over time. Through its partnership with the Red Cross, Remitly is also investing in preparedness efforts before disasters happen. Donations support infrastructure and community resilience that helps people weather crises, rather than only recover from them. Boulter's involvement in the Tiffany Circle, a group of women leaders who support the Red Cross through philanthropy and advocacy, has also brought that mission even closer - re-enforcing the importance of community driven support across all areas of the organization's work. "Visiting the blood and platelet center recently grounded me in the importance of donor generosity and what it means to come together as a community," she said. "The Tiffany Circle is an example of how to meaningfully engage with communities locally." That focus on connection aligns closely with Remitly's values of building meaningful relationships with communities, both globally and locally. Remitly employees bring that same sense of connection into their work. In 2025, teams across Europe, the Middle East, Asia, and the Pacific participated in a MapSwipe project, a global opensource mapping project which helps improve maps in disaster-prone areas. Accurate maps allow humanitarian workers to respond to crises more quickly and efficiently. "Many of the locations on MapSwipe are places our customers call home," said Ella Brown, who led the volunteering effort. "This activity truly crossed borders." For Remitly, it all comes back to one guiding idea: showing up when it matters most. Whether it's helping a family send money home, supporting disaster preparedness, or aiding recovery, the goal is the same. How you can help. Remitly Business adds Bulk Payments and Send by Link. Two new features - "Bulk Payments" and "Send by Link" - are rolling out in the US. Remitly Business is also now generally available to Canadian SMBs. Cross-border payments are one of the hardest jobs you take on as a small business owner. Manual payment runs take hours. A single typo in a recipient's name can hold up your vendor for days. Remitly Business is built to take that work - and risk - off your plate. Remitly Business is built on the same infrastructure that 9.6 million Remitly customers already trust to move money across borders. It's designed for an owner running the books, not a corporate treasury team. More than 20,000 businesses already use the product. Today, Remitly is introducing two new features built to address the specific needs of small businesses like yours: Bulk Payments and Send by Link. Bulk Payments Handle Payment Runs Faster With Bulk Payments, you can pay multiple recipients in a single workflow - contractors, freelancers, suppliers, or international team members. Just select your recipients from a list, see delivery speed, fees, and totals for every payment in one view, and approve. If your business runs a monthly pay cycle, what used to take half a day could now take minutes. Send by Link Reduces Payment Errors Incorrect recipient details - a misspelled name, a mismatched government ID, an outdated bank account number - are one of the leading causes of failed cross-border payments today. Collecting those details usually means asking a vendor or contractor to share sensitive banking information by email or other less secure channels - an awkward exchange most senders would rather avoid. With Send by Link, you can initiate a payment using only your recipient's email and phone number. Your recipient provides their payment details directly through a secure link, in their own time, so you never have to collect or see sensitive information. "When you pay your mother, you trust her before you ever hit send. When you pay a contractor on the other side of the world, you're either handing sensitive details to someone you barely know - or asking them to," said Ankur Tiwari, VP, Product, Remitly. "We built Send by Link so that never has to happen." Now Generally Available in Canada Small and medium-sized businesses in Canada can now use Remitly Business to pay contractors, suppliers, and global teams in over 100 countries - joining US and UK SMBs on the platform. Canadians have trusted Remitly to send money to loved ones around the world for more than a decade. In 2024, Remitly opened an office in the Vancouver area and joined Fintechs Canada to help shape policy on behalf of Canadian customers, alongside community partnerships with organizations like Websummit Vancouver, BC Tech, Latincouver, S.U.C.C.E.S.S., the Indo Pacific Foundation, Filipino BC, and Inter Toronto. The company has continued to expand its Canadian payment network, adding support for Interac e-Transfers, major Canadian bank accounts, and debit and credit cards. Most recently, Remitly received registration approval under Canada's Retail Payment Activities Act (RPAA), making the company a regulated payment service provider in Canada and an advocate of advancing Canada's payments infrastructure with access to open banking and real time payment rails. Ready to try it? Remitly Business is available now to customers in the US, UK, and Canada. Send by Link is generally available to US customers. Bulk Payments is rolling out now to select US customers, with general availability to follow. If you're new to Remitly Business in Canada, you can save $130 CAD across your first two transfers - $65 CAD off each - on transfers of $200 CAD or more. Remitly reaches another year of record send volumes as it celebrates 10 years in Canada, marking the milestone with RPAA registration. Ten years ago, Remitly entered Canada. Today, with record send volumes and official registration under Canada's Retail Payment Activities Act (RPAA), Remitly Inc. is more committed than ever to the Canadians who trust Remitly Inc. to send money home. Remitly (Nasdaq: RELY) is proud to announce that 2025 marked another year of record send volumes in Canada. Over the past ten years, Canadians have trusted Remitly to send millions to their families around the world - and that trust continues to drive Remitly Inc. forward. To further mark this milestone, Remitly Inc. received registration approval under Canada's Retail Payment Activities Act (RPAA), a reflection of its commitment to its Canadian customers. Remitly Inc. couldn't think of a better way to mark a decade in this country. A Decade of Investing in Canada. Remitly opened its Canadian office in Vancouver - one of the few fintechs to plant a physical flag in the region. Remitly Inc. joined Fintechs Canada to help shape the policies that affect its customers, partnered with organisations like Web Summit Vancouver, BC Tech, Latincouver, S.U.C.C.E.S.S., the Indo Pacific Foundation, Filipino BC, and Inter Toronto. Remitly Inc. built a product that works the way Canadians work, supporting Interac, major Canadian bank accounts, debit and credit cards, and an expanding Remitly Business offering for entrepreneurs. What the RPAA Means. Sending money across borders takes trust. The RPAA is Canada's way of making sure that trust is well-placed. It's a government-backed framework that holds payment companies to a strict set of standards, from how Remitly Inc. protect your money, to how Remitly Inc. respond if something goes wrong. For Remitly, registration under the RPAA is more than a compliance milestone - it commemorates Remitly Inc. as a regulated financial service provider in Canada. It also opens the path to Canada's next generation of payments infrastructure. For its customers, that means faster payments, more options, and lower costs. How This Benefits Customers. For the millions sending money home to the Philippines, India, USA, China, France, Mexico, and beyond from Canada, this registration means: * You're backed by Canada's regulatory system. You can send with confidence, as Remitly operates within Canada's formal financial framework. * You'll benefit from what comes next. RPAA registration is a key step towards connecting to Canada's real-time payments infrastructure as it comes online - meaning faster transfers, more ways to send, and lower costs. Choosing how to send money can be a hard decision, especially when you're navigating a new financial landscape. This registration makes that decision easier. "Receiving RPAA registration places Remitly among the fintechs that meet the Bank of Canada's standard - and that matters. It means our customers can trust that their money is in fully regulated hands, and it positions us to be at the table when Canada's financial infrastructure evolves. For the communities we serve, that's not a small thing. That's the difference between being an outsider in Canada's financial system and being a full participant in it." Said Jung Lee, Canada GM at Remitly What Comes Next. This is a foundation, not a finish line. As Canada's payments infrastructure evolves, Remitly is positioned to bring those innovations directly to the customers who need them most. Remitly Inc.'ll continue investing in products that make it easier and more affordable for Canadians to send money home, wherever home is.
