Hankook Tire honoured with Ford's 2025 QR ZERO AWARD.

Hankook Tire honoured with Ford's 2025 QR ZERO AWARD. * By TT News * March 26, 2026 Hankook Tire has once again demonstrated its standing as a global quality leader, having been presented with the 2025 QR ZERO AWARD by the American automotive brand Ford. The formal recognition took place on 25 March 2026 at Technoplex, the company's headquarters in Pangyo, South Korea, underscoring the strength of its manufacturing and quality management systems on an international stage. This accolade represents the highest form of quality recognition from Ford, reserved exclusively for supply partners that achieve exceptional performance over the course of a year. The criteria are deliberately stringent, requiring zero quality rejections in parts supply alongside a complete absence of warranty claims. Winning the award signals Ford's full endorsement of Hankook Tire's advanced quality control processes and its proven ability to deliver products with unwavering reliability. A central contributor to this achievement was the Geumsan Plant, which supplies original equipment tyres for the Ford F-150, a top-selling pickup truck. This facility distinguished itself as the first among Hankook Tire's eight global manufacturing sites to earn the QR ZERO AWARD, driven by a company-wide 'Quality No.1' strategy that leverages artificial intelligence and big data analytics. The honour further validates Hankook's expertise in product development and its capacity to meet the demanding standards of a major automotive partner. The relationship between the two companies extends back to 1999, when Hankook became the first Asian tyre maker to form a strategic partnership with Ford, followed by original equipment supply for the F-150 beginning in 2003. Over the years, this collaboration has expanded to include key models such as the Mustang, Explorer and Ranger, as well as the all-electric Mustang Mach-E, showcasing Hankook's advanced capabilities in electric vehicle tire technology. Reinforcing this legacy of excellence, all eight of Hankook's global manufacturing facilities have now attained Ford's Q1 Award, a designation reserved for partners meeting the automaker's most exacting standards in quality, production systems and innovation.

Among the featured innovations is Hankook's pioneering e-SMART City AU56, the brand's first electric bus tyre introduced in 2024. Also on show will be the recently launched Smart Work AM11+, a tyre specifically developed for the rigours of regional and local distribution. Its design provides strong resilience against the wear and tear of stop-start operations, making it ideal for demanding sectors like waste management, with reinforced sidewalls for extra protection. For fleets covering regional and long-haul routes, Hankook will present its SmartFlex range. The SmartFlex AL51 for steer axles and DL51 for drive axles are engineered for consistent performance throughout their lifespan. Hankook conquers Safari Rally Kenya's relentless terrain.

Hankook conquers Safari Rally Kenya's relentless terrain. * By TT News * March 17, 2026 Hankook Tire, the official tyre supplier to the FIA World Rally Championship (WRC), concluded its participation in the 2026 Safari Rally Kenya, which took place in Naivasha, Kenya, with the event wrapping up on 15 March 2026. The challenging terrain of the Kenyan savanna provided a rigorous test for Hankook's specialised equipment. Throughout the rally, the company provided its Dynapro R213 tyre, engineered specifically for severe off-road conditions. This extreme all-terrain tyre was available in Hard and Soft compounds and featured a robust casing structure alongside an optimised tread design. These characteristics ensured reliable grip and accurate steering response despite the demands of high-speed rallying. A key development was the introduction of an upgraded soft gravel tyre at this event. It delivered superior traction on wet and slippery sections while retaining its structural integrity amidst the unpredictable conditions. The rally unfolded across the rugged landscapes of Naivasha and the Great Rift Valley, where competitors faced sharp rocks, deep sand and treacherous fesh-fesh dust. Fluctuating weather further compounded the difficulty, making consistent tyre performance critical for drivers to reach the finish line. Ultimately, Toyota Gazoo Racing's Takamoto Katsuta emerged victorious after four gruelling days, reinforcing the event's reputation as one of the season's most demanding. Looking ahead, the championship moves to Europe for its fourth round, the WRC Croatia Rally 2026, scheduled from 9 to 12 April 2026 along the Adriatic coast. Returning to the WRC calendar after being part of the European Championship in 2025, the rally has generated significant interest with its redesigned route that navigates both coastal and mountainous terrain. For this event, Hankook will supply its Ventus Z215 and Z210 tyres, high-performance tarmac compounds designed to meet the rigorous demands of the course. These tyres have previously proven their effectiveness in similar environments, such as during the 2025 Rally Islas Canarias, where coastal and mountainous stages demanded exceptional vehicle control and tyre resilience. Since taking over as the exclusive tyre supplier for all WRC classes in 2025, Hankook has leveraged data from its involvement in over 70 global motorsport championships. The company applies these race-proven insights to advance its ultra-high-performance tyre technology, continually reinforcing its leadership in the field.
