  • Must be a United States citizen.
  • Must have an active Secret clearance.
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field and 12 years of experience in the respective technical or professional discipline, including five years in the Department of Defense, or 15 years of directly related experience, including eight years in the Department of Defense.
  • Experience with requirements development, production and deployment, operations and support, architecture development and implementation, modeling and simulation, Model-Based Systems Engineering principles, verification and validation, technical data package development and sustainment, and configuration management principles.
  • Experience with network architectures, embedded systems, application deployment across varied systems and hardware, cloud deployment, and virtualization.
  • Familiarity with Department of Defense acquisition processes, including Technology Maturation, Risk Reduction, Engineering and Manufacturing Development, and Production and Deployment activities.
Responsibilities
  • Conduct program portfolio reviews to evaluate and recommend alternative plans, improve systems engineering processes, manage and sustain technical baselines, and design and perform system-level tests.
  • Review and evaluate alternative plans, systems engineering programs, designs, and test results to verify subsystem and system performance compliance with program specifications.
  • Prepare technical documentation defining and recommending system and subsystem characteristics, management reports, and technical presentations for planning, implementation, and corrective actions, applying engineering economy principles.
  • Perform system validations, including criteria and procedure development, and analyze and evaluate major engineering system results.
  • Provide engineering, technical support, and training for acquisition, development, integration, sustainment, evolution, deployment, fielding, installation, and operations oversight.
  • Support risk management activities in alignment with Air Force Systems Engineering Assessment Model processes.
  • Conduct formal trade studies covering engineering performance, effectiveness, cost-performance balance, lifecycle cost, reliability, maintainability, risk, and schedule.
  • Provide technical recommendations through reviews, studies, audits, evaluations, analyses, procedural guidance, and documentation in support of engineering Integrated Product Teams.
  • Analyze proposals to compare and quantify the technical feasibility, compatibility, and cost-effectiveness of proposed systems and components.
  • Review and analyze Initial Capabilities Documents, Capability Development Documents, Capability Production Documents, and Analyses of Alternatives.
  • Conduct assessments of military utility, operational concepts, technology development strategies, functional configuration audits, physical configuration audits, and technology standards profiles.
  • Analyze system concepts and user requirements entered into functional, allocated, and product system requirements baselines.
  • Assist with material solution analysis, technology development, engineering, manufacturing, production, deployment, and operations support.
  • Support engineering technical processes, including version and configuration control, requirements analysis, architecture design, implementation, integration, verification, validation, and decision analysis.
  • Perform risk, configuration, technical data, and interface management, as well as technical planning and assessments.
  • Support the planning and execution of technical reviews, including System Requirements Reviews and Technology Readiness Assessments, and develop associated documentation such as Systems Engineering Plans and Risk Management Plans.
  • Develop systems engineering documentation covering systems-of-systems interactions, configuration management, technical data packages, and acquisition and sustainment engineering processes.
Desired Qualifications
  • Master's degree in a professional engineering discipline from an ABET-accredited educational program with at least 10 years of experience in the respective technical or professional discipline, including five years in the Department of Defense.
  • Familiarity with Electronic Warfare and air combat operations, including live aircrew training and development of tactics, techniques, and procedures.
  • Familiarity with range infrastructure architectures and supporting systems.
  • Understanding of Level D certification as the highest qualification standard for Full Flight Simulators under Federal Aviation Administration and European Union Aviation Safety Agency regulations.
  • Knowledge that Level D certification requires live aircraft performance data, which may be difficult to obtain because of operational aircraft availability constraints.
  • Familiarity with Level D minimum viable product requirements, including six-axis motion systems, a minimum 150-degree visual field of view, highly accurate cockpit replicas, and zero-flight-time training capability.

Odyssey lands NVIDIA and Samsung backing to build AI world simulator

Odyssey, an AI research company developing frontier world models, has secured investment from NVentures, NVIDIA's venture capital arm, and Samsung Next. The funding will support development of a general-purpose world simulator capable of generating infinitely long, interactive simulations from any starting point. Founded two years ago, Odyssey recently released Odyssey-2 Pro, a world model that can be integrated into applications across robotics, gaming, education and defence. The investment adds to backing from GV, EQT, Air Street Capital and notable angel investors including Jeff Dean and Elad Gil. The company will use the capital to improve simulation length, quality and interactivity, whilst scaling infrastructure for training next-generation world models. Odyssey's research team includes talent from DeepMind, OpenAI, Tesla, Waymo and Meta.
