Requirements
  • A Master's Degree in Nursing or an equivalent level of education and experience that qualifies the applicant to hold a Nurse Practitioner License in Texas.
  • Two years of related experience.
  • A Texas Board of Nursing Registered Nurse license and Advanced Practice Registered Nurse license with prescriptive authority in Texas.
  • Board certification in mental health.
  • DEA registration.
  • BLS certification.
  • All licensure and certification must be maintained for continued employment.
Responsibilities
  • Engages in clinical assessments and diagnostic evaluations.
  • Provides crisis intervention for patients with mental health care needs.
  • Monitors patients to ensure adherence to treatment plans.
  • Assumes responsibility for difficult and complex patients based on experience or area of expertise.
  • Prescribes and monitors medications.
  • Completes accurate and appropriate documentation of patient encounters in the electronic medical records system in a timely manner.
  • Acts in accordance with all departmental policies and procedures, relevant licensing boards, and local, state, and federal laws regulating Nurse Practitioners.
  • Engages in counseling and clinical-related activities and works closely with the Integrated Behavioral Health unit.
  • Consults with other providers regarding patients' psychiatric medications and treatment plans to ensure appropriateness and coordination of care.
  • Serves as an internal resource for staff and medical providers regarding psychiatric-mental health care questions.
  • May serve as a practicum instructor or preceptor for graduate or undergraduate students.
  • Participates in continuing education to maintain licensure and board certification.
  • May conduct scholarly presentations to clinic staff and participate in educational activities for staff, students, and trainees of other disciplines.
  • Engages in various administrative aspects of counseling and clinical cases.
  • Completes outside referrals as needed.
  • May assist in preparing patient educational materials.
Desired Qualifications
  • Prior experience in medication-assisted treatment (MAT).
  • Bilingual.
