  • Experience applying structured root cause analysis and corrective action methodologies, such as 8D, fishbone, and 5-Why, to manufacturing nonconformances and process deviations.
  • Ability to collect, analyze, and interpret process data to drive engineering decisions and support continuous improvement in low-volume or novel manufacturing environments.
  • Ability to solve complex problems from first principles with minimal supervision, independently and as a contributing team member in a fast-paced startup environment.
  • Commitment to safety culture and ability to operate within rigorous regulatory environments, including OSHA, ITAR, and hazardous or energetic materials standards.
  • Eligibility to obtain and maintain applicable state and federal explosives licenses, including minimum age and background investigation requirements.
  • Ability to meet U.S. Government space technology export regulation requirements through U.S. citizenship, lawful permanent residence, protected-individual status, or eligibility to obtain required authorizations.
  • Ability to lift, move, or carry items or equipment up to 50 pounds; stand, walk, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, and crouch in a manufacturing environment; and use personal protective equipment.
Responsibilities
  • Own the end-to-end process lifecycle from early development and feasibility through scale-up, process qualification, and production readiness in collaboration with Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, Safety, and Compliance.
  • Design, develop, and implement manufacturing processes, procedures, tooling, and systems for solid rocket motors and energetic materials while maintaining safety, quality, performance, and reliability standards.
  • Lead the transition of energetic manufacturing processes from development and pilot scale to full production, defining process controls, qualification criteria, and production-readiness gates.
  • Implement Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies to improve safety, quality, reliability, cost, and throughput, and develop and report process performance metrics such as yield, defect rates, and cycle time.
  • Create, review, and maintain Standard Operating Procedures, work instructions, process specifications, and technical documentation to production standards.
  • Prepare technical reports and presentations for internal and external stakeholders to support planning, budgeting, process reviews, and program milestones.
  • Stay current with energetics processing and manufacturing industry trends.
  • Mentor and guide junior engineers and technicians in process engineering fundamentals, safe handling of energetic materials, and manufacturing best practices.
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience with energetic materials, solid rocket motor propellant chemistry, or other hazardous manufacturing environments.
  • Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma certification, such as Green Belt or Black Belt, with demonstrated application in automated production environments.

Voyager Technologies uses a vertical integration approach to unify multiple space and defense firms, offering end-to-end space and defense capabilities. It operates in three segments—Defense & National Security, Space Solutions, and Starlab Space Stations—and earns much of its revenue from U.S. government contracts for missile defense, propulsion, and signals intelligence, while handling mission planning, payload integration, launch support, and on-orbit operations. Its flagship Starlab space station, developed with Airbus for a single-launch deployment on a SpaceX Starship, plus the Bishop Airlock and lunar initiatives from Astrobotic, illustrate its integrated space infrastructure. The company aims to grow the commercial space economy and extend human activity in space by providing a continuous private space platform in low Earth orbit for government and commercial users.
