Requirements
  • The position requires an Associate’s degree, or a high school diploma with at least one year of experience relevant to the primary responsibilities.
  • The candidate must have the physical health, emotional stability, personality, and understanding required to meet the physical, mental, emotional, and social needs of adolescent and adult populations.

  • The candidate must have no history or evidence of alcohol or other drug misuse for two years before employment and must not misuse alcohol or other drugs while employed.
  • The candidate must not have disqualifying felony, child abuse, or physical-harm convictions or substantiated child abuse findings.
  • The candidate must meet the stated driving-record limits.
  • The candidate must be able to read and interpret safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.

  • The candidate must be able to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees.

  • The candidate must obtain Basic Life Support cardiopulmonary resuscitation certification within 90 days of hire and maintain it throughout employment.

Responsibilities
  • Maintain professional standards and follow agency treatment policies, procedures, and applicable federal, state, and local regulations, especially Washington Administrative Code 388-877 requirements.
  • Gain working knowledge of applicable Washington Administrative Codes, Washington Implementation Guides, and Revised Code of Washington requirements.
  • Attend regular staff meetings and in-service staff training.
  • Complete staff responsibilities accurately and on time.
  • Support the Chemical Dependency Professional or Trainee with individualized patient treatment plans designed and implemented by the treatment team.
  • Support the Chemical Dependency Professional or Trainee in providing and referring clients to treatment and service programs in the facility and community.
  • Monitor clients, log activities, perform laundry and cleanup for youth clients, and handle graveyard-shift activities.
  • Attend groups with volatile clients to provide additional support, attend Alcoholics Anonymous meetings with clients, and monitor clients during housework and quiet time.
  • Serve food when necessary.
  • Provide age-appropriate patient care addressing physical and emotional needs in accordance with agency policy and applicable licensing requirements.
  • Complete daily record keeping using the problem-oriented patient records system.
  • Complete daily logs, Extraordinary Incident Reports, medication logs, and related documentation accurately and on time.
  • Prepare current patient progress reports and completion notices for courts, probation departments, and referral sources when appropriate.
  • Complete required federal, state, county, and local forms for each patient on time.
  • Gain accurate knowledge of community and statewide referral resources.
  • Maintain consistent and positive relationships with collateral contacts, staff, and patients.
  • Provide training and oversight to patients in housekeeping, meal service, and daily activities.
  • Assist staff and patients with laundry, dishes, housekeeping, and garbage.
  • Assist counseling staff with patient urinalysis procedures and required documentation.
