Requirements
  • A high school diploma or General Educational Development credential is required.
  • A minimum of three years of recent medical collections, insurance follow-up, or healthcare accounts receivable experience is required.
  • A minimum of one year of leadership, mentoring, team lead, or supervisory experience is preferred.
  • Experience with behavioral health, mental health, or substance use disorder billing is preferred.
  • Strong understanding of Medicare, Medicaid, commercial insurance, and managed care reimbursement is required.
  • Working knowledge of Current Procedural Terminology, International Classification of Diseases, 10th Revision, Clinical Modification, Healthcare Common Procedure Coding System, and medical terminology is required.
  • Experience using electronic medical records and medical billing software is required.
  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Microsoft Excel, is required.
  • Ability to work full-time in the Doraville office is required.
  • Ability to meet productivity goals, ensure timely insurance follow-up, reduce accounts receivable aging, support reimbursement and collection goals, maintain accurate documentation, and comply with payer regulations is required.
Responsibilities
  • Assist the Collections Lead with the day-to-day operations of the Medical Collections department.
  • Perform insurance follow-up on commercial, Medicare, Medicaid, and managed care claims.
  • Research and resolve denied, rejected, underpaid, and unpaid insurance claims.
  • Submit corrected claims, reconsiderations, and supporting documentation as needed.
  • Review and prioritize aging reports to maximize reimbursement and reduce outstanding accounts receivable.
  • Monitor staff productivity, work queues, and follow-up timeliness.
  • Assist with assigning workloads and balancing team responsibilities.
  • Train, mentor, and support new and existing Collection Specialists.
  • Perform quality assurance reviews and provide constructive coaching and feedback.
  • Identify reimbursement trends and escalate payer issues to management.
  • Assist in developing and maintaining departmental workflows and standard operating procedures.
  • Monitor accounts receivable, aging reports, productivity metrics, timely insurance follow-up, and collection performance.
  • Collaborate with Billing, Appeals, Payment Posting, and other Revenue Cycle departments to resolve claim issues.
  • Maintain Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act compliance and protect patient confidentiality.
  • Meet or exceed daily, weekly, and monthly productivity goals.
  • Demonstrate leadership through accountability, professionalism, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
Desired Qualifications
  • An associate or bachelor's degree in Healthcare Administration, Business, or a related field.
  • Experience with CollaborateMD, Kipu electronic medical records, and Availity.
  • At least one year of leadership, mentoring, team lead, or supervisory experience.
  • Experience with behavioral health, mental health, or substance use disorder billing.
  • Performance bonus opportunities are available after 90 days.
