Requirements
  • Graduation from an accredited high school or GED program.
  • One year of work-related experience, with one year of work-related experience substitutable for one year of formal training or any combination of work experience and formal training.
  • Must possess a valid Texas driver's license and a good driving record.
  • Must provide a copy of a 10-year driving history.
  • Must maintain a good driving record and remain in compliance with Article II, Subdivision II of Chapter 90 of the Dallas County Code.
  • Must pass a security clearance check.
  • Must be able to climb ladders and lift more than 50 pounds with assistance.
  • Must be able to withstand prolonged sitting, standing, bending, squatting, twisting, kneeling, stretching, lifting, and climbing ladders.
  • Must be able to work in varying conditions, surroundings, and weather conditions.
Responsibilities
  • Build, install, and repair wooden structures and fixtures, structural parts, concrete surfaces, and other fixtures of Dallas County properties.
  • Cut and assemble wooden and metal framework and drywall.
  • Repair locks, door closers, office furniture, floors, doors, and windows.
  • Install signs, pictures, and plaques and make keys.
  • Install and repair baseboards, overhead trim, moldings, wood and metal doors, suspended ceilings, concrete surfaces, ceramic tiles, concrete blocks, bricks, and glazed brick tiles.
  • Build custom items such as countertops, bookcases, gun lockers, files, and shelves.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
