Requirements
  • A Level 7 or Level 8 qualification in Mechanical Engineering, Building Services Engineering, Energy Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • A strong interest in mechanical building services, mechanical and electrical contracting, and construction project delivery.
  • Good communication, organisation, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team and take direction from experienced engineers and project leaders.
  • A proactive attitude, strong work ethic, and willingness to learn.
  • Comfort working in both office-based and site-based environments.
  • Availability to start immediately or at short notice.
Responsibilities
  • Support project teams with the delivery of mechanical services from early-stage planning through installation, testing, and commissioning.
  • Assist with technical reviews, drawings, specifications, submittals, and project documentation.
  • Work with engineers, supervisors, subcontractors, and site teams to support safe and efficient project delivery.
  • Support quality, safety, and compliance requirements across mechanical works.
  • Assist with progress tracking, reporting, materials coordination, and issue resolution.
  • Develop practical knowledge of mechanical and electrical contracting, construction sequencing, programme requirements, and client expectations.
  • Build technical understanding of mechanical systems, site coordination, project delivery, and engineering best practice.
  • Participate in training, mentoring, and continuous professional development.
Desired Qualifications
  • Previous placement, internship, or site experience within construction, mechanical and electrical contracting, building services, utilities, energy, pharmaceutical, commercial, or data centre environments.
  • Basic understanding of mechanical drawings, schematics, technical specifications, or construction documentation.
  • Exposure to AutoCAD, Revit, building information modelling, Microsoft Project, Excel, or other engineering and project tools.
  • Interest in progressing toward professional development, continuing professional development, and chartership.

75 new jobs to be created at new manufacturing facility in Kells. Designer Group, one of Ireland's leading mechanical and electrical engineering companies, has expanded its Modular Manufacturing capability with the opening of a new €10 million facility in Kells, Co. Meath. The company, Designer Group, says the large investment in the 4,000sqm workshop demonstrates its continued commitment to innovation, efficiency, and client value. The new facility is expected to employ up to 75 people over the next five years in a range of positions, including in engineering, fabrication and logistics. Having delivered modular and off-site solutions for several years, this larger, purpose-built workshop will enable Designer Group to scale operations, enhance production capacity and deliver greater value for its clients in the Data Centre, Energy, and pharmaceutical sectors. Components built at the Meath plant will be transported to Designer Group client sites across Ireland, the UK and Europe. Mr Paul Nicholls, Group Managing Director, Designer Group said: "As our industry continues to evolve, we are seeing a fundamental shift in how complex projects are executed - with speed, certainty, and sustainability at the forefront.
