Requirements
  • Experience designing production PCB layouts using Altium Designer.
  • Strong understanding of PCB placement, routing, stack-ups, vias, controlled impedance, differential pairs, length tuning, grounding, shielding, and return-current paths.
  • Experience with high-speed and low-speed board design, including digital, analog, power, sensor, connector, and embedded-control circuits.
  • Ability to read schematics, datasheets, reference designs, mechanical drawings, fabrication notes, and assembly requirements.
  • Working knowledge of PCB fabrication and assembly processes, including design for manufacturability, design for assembly, design for test, solder-mask and paste design, drill constraints, copper balance, panelization, and common manufacturing defects.
  • Familiarity with IPC design and acceptability standards, including IPC-2221, IPC-7351, IPC-A-600, or IPC-A-610.
  • Experience collaborating with mechanical engineering through ECAD-MCAD workflows, 3D models, enclosure constraints, and board-fit reviews.
  • Ability to communicate layout tradeoffs clearly with electrical engineers, mechanical engineers, vendors, and manufacturing partners.
  • Strong attention to detail and judgment to distinguish cosmetic, manufacturability-related, and electrically risky layout issues.
  • Comfort working independently in a remote environment while keeping design status, risks, and blockers visible to the team.
Responsibilities
  • Create PCB layouts in Altium for high-speed, low-speed, mixed-signal, power, and embedded electronics.
  • Partner with electrical engineers to understand schematic intent, critical nets, placement priorities, routing constraints, signal-integrity concerns, and design-risk areas.
  • Work with mechanical engineers on board outlines, keepouts, mounting features, connector placement, enclosure constraints, cable routing, thermal requirements, and 3D fit checks.
  • Define and apply layout rules for controlled impedance, differential pairs, length matching, spacing, creepage and clearance, via structures, return paths, and power distribution.
  • Place components and route boards with attention to signal integrity, power integrity, electromagnetic interference/electromagnetic compatibility, thermal behavior, manufacturability, testability, and serviceability.
  • Collaborate on stack-up definition, material selection, layer planning, impedance targets, high-density interconnect tradeoffs, and fabrication constraints.
  • Run design-rule checks, review layout issues, and drive closure of placement, routing, manufacturability, and assembly concerns before release.
  • Generate complete fabrication and assembly outputs, including Gerbers or ODB++, drill files, drawings, pick-and-place files, assembly notes, and documentation packages.
  • Support design reviews with electrical, mechanical, firmware, manufacturing, supply-chain, and quality teams.
  • Work with PCB fabricators and contract manufacturers to resolve design-for-manufacturability, design-for-assembly, panelization, impedance, tolerance, assembly, and yield issues.
  • Maintain clean design data, revision history, layout documentation, and release packages that support prototype builds and production handoff.
  • Help improve layout standards, design checklists, Altium templates, library feedback loops, and repeatable release workflows.
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience with aerospace, robotics, automotive, medical-device, industrial, or other high-reliability hardware.
  • Experience with radio-frequency layout, antennas, switching power supplies, motor-control electronics, dense ball-grid arrays, high-density interconnect, rigid-flex, or flex circuits.
  • Experience using simulation, analysis, or review tools for signal integrity, power integrity, thermal behavior, or manufacturability.
  • IPC Certified Interconnect Designer or CID+ certification, or equivalent demonstrated PCB design expertise.
  • Experience supporting bring-up, prototype builds, failure analysis, or production ramp with remote or distributed teams.

Uber Eats partners with Zipline for drone deliveries, targeting 1M daily by 2029

Uber Technologies has partnered with drone delivery company Zipline to offer autonomous drone deliveries to Uber Eats customers in the US, with the service launching before year-end. Uber will make an undisclosed strategic investment in Zipline as part of the agreement. The partnership will enable Uber Eats users in areas where Zipline operates to select drone delivery for orders. The companies plan to expand the service to dozens more US cities and aim for a combined capacity of one million drone deliveries daily by end of 2029. Zipline currently operates on four continents. The partnership aims to reduce delivery times to between five and ten minutes for US customers. The agreement forms part of Uber's hybrid delivery strategy, which combines human couriers, pavement robots and drones.

Uber is partnering with drone delivery company Zipline, aiming to make one million deliveries per day using Zipline's drones by the end of 2029. The first deliveries on Uber Eats will begin by year-end in Zipline's existing markets, with plans to expand into dozens of US cities. The companies did not disclose the investment amount. Uber is bringing multiple drone delivery partners onto its platform as it seeks to grow Uber Eats. The ride-hail giant previously partnered with Israeli startup Flytrex late last year. US drone delivery aids Rwanda healthcare, but infrastructure gaps and aid cuts pose risks

US company Zipline has been delivering medical supplies via drone in Rwanda since 2016, operating from distribution centres that serve hospitals across the country. The drones carry blood, vaccines, and medicines, with deliveries taking minutes compared to hours by road. The service has contributed to reducing maternal mortality. Government data shows deaths during childbirth fell from 1,000 per 100,000 women 26 years ago to 87 today. A new US grant will expand coverage, part of the Trump administration's approach promoting American businesses in global health work. However, the US has simultaneously cut $200 million in funding for aid groups providing food and health services in Rwanda. Healthcare workers note that whilst drone delivery is valuable, poor infrastructure including inadequate roads, electricity, and equipment at local clinics remains a significant challenge.

Zipline's US marketplace grows 13X as drone delivery firm adds Tesla, Waymo, Uber execs

Zipline announced major US expansion plans, including launches in Cleveland and Austin. The drone delivery company's marketplace grew 13-fold during the first half of 2026, with businesses adopting its platform at unprecedented rates. In July, Zipline will launch healthcare home delivery with Cleveland Clinic in Beachwood, offering prescription deliveries to eligible patients at no additional cost. Austin operations will follow, providing food and retail deliveries in as little as five minutes. The company appointed three senior executives from Tesla, Waymo, and Uber. Sendil Palani joins as CFO after 17 years at Tesla, Kevin Vosen as Chief Legal Officer from Waymo, and Allen Penn as Head of Commercial from Uber. Zipline has completed over 2.5 million commercial deliveries and now operates more flights daily than major US airlines, with 70% occurring domestically. The company claims its medical deliveries help save over 12,000 lives annually.
