- An associate degree in radiation oncology or a related field is required.
- National certification from the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists is required.
- State licensure by the applicable regulatory agency is required if applicable.
- Basic Life Support certification is required.
- Knowledge of clinical techniques, applications, and equipment relevant to radiation therapy is required.
- Effective communication and human relations skills and a safety-conscious approach are required.
- Perform prescribed radiation therapy treatments by following and verifying referring providers’ orders and applying established methodologies.
- Educate patients and families about procedures and treatments.
- Operate treatment and treatment-planning equipment, including simulation equipment.
- Prepare treatments, administer prescribed doses, and maintain accurate documentation.
- Perform prescribed invasive and interventional procedures in accordance with established policies.
- Perform and evaluate equipment quality-control measurements, troubleshoot issues, and notify appropriate personnel to maintain equipment performance.
- Maintain a safe environment and follow radiation-safety practices, including the safe receipt, administration, storage, and disposal of radioactive materials using ALARA principles.
- Maintain ethical, legal, professional, and confidentiality responsibilities related to radiation oncology practice.
- Assure efficient departmental workflow.
- Independently perform prescribed radiation therapy procedures for patients in accordance with department and facility policies, procedures, and protocols.
- Collaborate with radiation oncology staff, nursing management and staff, medical staff, interdisciplinary healthcare teams, regulatory and health agencies, patients, caregivers, and families.
- Previous radiation therapy experience is preferred.
- Additional related education and/or experience is preferred.

Banner Health, Delta Dental of Arizona train dentists to better care for people with dementia. Partnership helps Arizona dental providers address a gap in dental care. PHOENIX (Sept. 21, 2026) - Banner Health, one of the nation's largest fully integrated nonprofit health systems, and Delta Dental of Arizona have joined forces in an innovative dental health initiative that prioritizes dignity, access and quality care to support patients and families facing Alzheimer's disease and related dementias. Reflecting a shared commitment to improving specialized health care delivery across Arizona, central to this initiative is the expansion of Banner's Dementia ECHO (Extension for Community Healthcare Outcomes) Program, a guided learning model connecting health care professionals with dementia specialists. In partnership with Delta Dental, free interactive workshops equip dental providers with practical, research-backed strategies from expert mentors - covering topics such as the link between oral health and dementia, dental care strategies, and communication and behavior techniques. Participants also can present real patient cases and receive personalized guidance from a multidisciplinary expert team. "This partnership exemplifies how mission-aligned community leadership can address a true gap in dental care," said Lori Nisson, Family and Community Services director at Banner Alzheimer's. "By combining clinical expertise with real-world, case-based learning, we're empowering local dental care providers with the tools and confidence needed to treat people living with dementia with high-quality, compassionate care. At the same time, this collaborative approach helps drive meaningful improvements across the broader health care community." As the number of people living with Alzheimer's and related dementias continues to grow alongside an aging population, early detection and thoughtful, specialized care have become increasingly important community needs. Recognizing that oral health is deeply connected to overall physical and brain health, the partnership expands Banner Alzheimer's Institute's dementia expertise beyond traditional clinical settings to offer practical, research-backed training to dental providers across Arizona. This initiative builds on a growing collaboration between Banner and Delta Dental of Arizona, which includes the Hospital Oral Care and Periodontal Disease Education (HOPE) program - an oral health protocol now active across 28 Banner acute-care facilities in six states. Together, these efforts reflect a shared belief that integrating dental and medical care leads to better outcomes for patients, particularly those in vulnerable populations. Banner Health appoints market director of surgical services. By: Cameron Cortigiano Jesse Selber, MD, has been named director of surgical services at Banner Health in the Phoenix Market and chair of the department of surgery at the University of Arizona College of Medicine - Phoenix. Dr. Selber is a pioneer of complex cancer reconstruction and is credited with performing the world's first skull, scalp, kidney and pancreas transplant. He has written more than 215 peer-reviewed publications and has given more than 450 national and international lectures, according to a Sept. 17 news release from the University of Arizona. Prior to joining Banner Health and the University of Arizona, Dr. Selber served as physician executive and senior vice president of strategy and growth at Corewell Health. In addition, he served as director of clinical research, vice chair and acting chair of the department of plastic surgery at the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center. QUEENS CREEK, Ariz. - Banner Ironwood Medical Center has broken ground on an expansion that will add more than 32,000 square feet to its Queen Creek, Ariz., campus, increasing emergency and interventional care capacity. The project, which broke ground Aug. 27, will add a two-story building to the existing emergency department, expand the department's lobby and create space for a new interventional radiology suite. Completion is scheduled for December 2027. The expansion at Banner Ironwood Medical Center, 37000 N. Gantzel Road, is intended to address growing demand while improving the patient experience in the emergency department. Banner Health said the added space is expected to improve wait times, privacy and capacity for critically ill patients, supporting a smoother care experience through discharge. A central element of the project is a new two-story addition connected to the existing emergency department. Plans call for an interventional radiology suite with dedicated pre- and post-procedure space, along with additional room reserved for future growth. The emergency department lobby will also be enlarged to better accommodate patients and families. "This project is a reflection of our commitment to giving back to the Queen Creek community," said Darren McCollem, chief executive officer of Banner Ironwood, according to a press release from Banner Health. ARCHSOL is the architect for the expansion and is working with Banner Health and Mortenson, which is leading construction. ARCHSOL said planning for the active hospital campus must account for clinical operations, infrastructure, circulation and construction phasing while the facility continues serving patients. The architecture firm also identified infection prevention, emergency access, utility coordination and continuity of care as considerations during construction. The new spaces are being designed to connect with existing departments while allowing the campus to adapt to future clinical needs. Banner Ironwood has served Queen Creek and the surrounding area for more than a decade.
