Requirements

Responsibilities
  • Gather product samples for customer validations and replace them every two years on the program.
  • Prepare manual certificates of analysis for customer validation samples.
  • Prepare and send customer validation samples as requested.
  • Receive and validate certificates of analysis for all raw materials.
  • Inspect the condition of incoming materials.
  • Enter information and critical characteristics into the Incoming Raw Material Log.
  • Review critical raw material characteristic trends using Excel charts or SPC-IV and advise on necessary action.
  • Place non-conforming raw materials on hold.
  • Gather samples indicated by standard operating procedures, perform internal tests as necessary, and prepare samples for required outside testing.
  • Gather three water samples per week from GCC and PCC ultraviolet systems and perform bacteria testing.
  • Report and follow up on abnormal ultraviolet-system conditions or microbial results.
  • Gather biannual samples and water samples for outside microbial testing.
  • Prepare and send samples and equipment to outside laboratories, suppliers, and customers.
  • Place out-of-specification material on hold and track held product until dispositioned.
  • Gather samples of customer-returned product.
  • Help gather evidence for customer-concern and quality-alert investigations.
  • Replace the stability chamber paper chart weekly and monitor temperature and relative humidity compliance.
  • Maintain the stability chamber with enough water and report observed problems.
  • Track laboratory chemicals, standards, and consumables and advise when levels fall below restocking points for purchase.
  • Maintain and order retained material and laboratory books.
  • Perform biannual inspections of magnet strength and equipment conditions.
  • Perform quarterly checks of metal detectors.
  • Review and train production operators on proper magnet sampling and metal detector verification.

Minerals Technologies Inc. reported second-quarter sales of $548 million, up 4% year-over-year, with first-half sales reaching $1.1 billion, up 7%. The specialty minerals company posted a reported loss of $5.90 per share, though earnings excluding special items were $1.60 per share, up 3% from the prior year. The company recorded a $290 million charge to fund a trust resolving talc-related claims and its subsidiary's bankruptcy proceedings. CEO Douglas Dietrich said the firm is on track for mid-single digit full-year growth despite absorbing significant inflationary costs that temporarily impacted margins. The Engineered Solutions segment achieved record operating margins of 17.8%, whilst Consumer & Specialties operating income declined 21% due to unfavourable volume mix and higher costs. The new officers, who will serve two-year terms, are: * Chair: Mitchell Koppelman * Chair-elect: Diane Ramirez * Treasurer: Mike Lentz * Secretary: Nicole Creech * Immediate Past Chair: Traci Stewart Mitch Koppelman, PhD, is a retired vice president of strategic planning for Minerals Technologies and principal consultant for Mineral Solutions and Strategy, where he provides consulting and advisory services to multinational clients. He and his wife Debbie, who has pulmonary arterial hypertension, lost two daughters to pulmonary arterial hypertension. Koppelman is involved in local government and planning in Sanibel, Florida, and Seaside Park, New Jersey. Diane Ramirez, of Lexington, North Carolina, has served on the PHA board for 14 years. In September 2023, she underwent heart and lung transplant after living with PH for 36 years. Her primary motivation to help PHA with its mission comes from losing a brother and two sisters to PAH. He has a long history of fundraising and supporting PH-related causes and served on PHA's finance and development committees. Nicole Creech, of Lexington, Kentucky, joined PHA in 2016 and became a volunteer to help find a cure. She also wanted to be empowered by hope and share that hope with others. She formerly chaired the Finance Committee and sits on several committees to provide a patient perspective. In her spare time, Creech serves her community as an end-of-life doula. She's also a court-appointed child advocate and enjoys visiting assisted living facilities with her Morkie, Teddy. She coordinates care as patients transition from inpatient and outpatient settings. Stewart has over 20 years of clinical expertise in managing pulmonary hypertension and heart failure patients. Her focus is providing patient, nurse and community education. New board members Jessie Dunne, PharmD, BCPS, BCCP, FACC, is a clinical pharmacist for advanced heart failure and transplant at Oregon Health and Science University. Dan Grinnan, MD, is medical director of the PHA-accredited PH Care Center at VCU Medical Center in Richmond, Virginia. Marcie McGregor joined PHA in 2012 soon after she was diagnosed with PAH. She founded and leads a PHA support group in Augusta, Georgia. George Peoples, MD, FACS, of Horseshoe Bay, Texas, became a PHA volunteer five years ago after his daughter was diagnosed with PH. A retired Army colonel, he is the executive medical director of Avance Clinical's Oncology Center of Excellence. Minerals Technologies hits all 12 environmental targets, sets new 2035 goals with 67% sustainable products

Minerals Technologies Inc. has published its 18th Sustainability Report, announcing it achieved all 12 environmental targets set in 2018 and established new 10-year goals through 2035. The New York-based specialty minerals company reduced Scope 1 emissions by 34% and Scope 2 emissions by 42% in absolute terms, exceeding its original targets. MTI also cut landfill waste by 44%, more than doubling its 20% reduction target, and decreased water withdrawal by 31%. In 2025, 67% of the company's new products had a sustainable profile. MTI achieved a record-low injury rate of 0.54, with 92% of sites operating injury-free. The company reported global sales of $2.1 billion in 2025 and employs 4,000 people across 34 countries.

Minerals Technologies proposes $450M trust for talc claims in BMI OldCo bankruptcy plan

Minerals Technologies Inc. has filed a plan of reorganisation in the Chapter 11 bankruptcy cases of its subsidiary BMI OldCo Inc. and affiliated debtors. The filing meets a court-imposed deadline whilst broader disputes remain pending before the US District Court for the Southern District of Texas. The plan proposes a $450 million trust fund to address current and future talc-related claims, with a channeling injunction protecting non-debtor affiliates. MTI maintains that BMI OldCo's talc products are safe and the lawsuits are meritless. The company will record a $290 million charge in Q2 2026 to increase reserves for estimated costs. MTI continues funding the debtors' administrative expenses whilst awaiting the district court's determination on whether BMI OldCo's talc contained asbestos.
