OpenEvidence and Johns Hopkins Medicine announce landmark collaboration to design the future of medicine and medical education in the age of AI. October 14, 2026 OpenEvidence, the most popular AI for doctors in the United States, today announced a strategic collaboration with Johns Hopkins Medicine (JHM) to reimagine medical education and clinical care in the age of artificial intelligence. The collaboration spans two foundational pillars: preparing the next generation of clinicians for the future in which they will practice and ensuring every patient receives care grounded in the latest, evidence-based clinical guidelines. Ultimately, this is about using AI to serve what has always mattered most - better outcomes for patients. The collaboration begins from the shared conviction that the emerging transformation in medicine requires a deliberate reimagination of both education and clinical practice. As AI becomes capable of surfacing and synthesizing the world's medical knowledge in seconds, the role of the clinician shifts toward what cannot be automated: first-principles reasoning, clinical and contextual judgment, and the deeply human work of caring for patients. Johns Hopkins established the current model of medical education in the United States more than a century ago. OpenEvidence, the most widely adopted medical AI in the United States, has transformed how physicians access and interact with medical knowledge. Johns Hopkins has selected OpenEvidence, which is already used by 1.12 million medical professionals in the U.S. Johns Hopkins Medicine is launching a partnership with OpenEvidence focused on clinical practice and physician training, reports Fierce Healthcare. The parties will develop AI systems that integrate the evidence base with patient medical records and Johns Hopkins protocols, using them to build a new model of medical education. OpenEvidence describes Johns Hopkins as the birthplace of modern medical education. Recently, Northwestern Medicine announced that it had integrated OpenEvidence into its Epic electronic health record system. The service is accessible to nurses, pharmacists, and other clinical staff in addition to physicians, with access provided via hospital credentials. Prior to this, OpenEvidence had been adopted by Mount Sinai, Cedars-Sinai, Penn Medicine, NewYork-Presbyterian, and AdventHealth. OpenEvidence is free for US medical professionals; according to the company, 1.12 million licensed specialists used the platform in September. Integrations are moving the service from physicians' mobile phones into the operational systems of the country's largest health systems - and, through the Johns Hopkins partnership, into the training of the next generation of medical professionals. In September, Forbes reported that investors valued OpenEvidence at $15 billion, a 25% increase over its valuation in the January funding round. OpenEvidence is available in its app.

Northwestern Medicine and OpenEvidence, an AI-powered medical search and clinical decision-support platform, have announced a collaboration to embed OpenEvidence directly in the electronic health record (EHR). Since October 8, clinicians at the Chicago health system can launch the tool from Epic, signed in automatically with their hospital credentials. Nurses, pharmacists and other clinical staff get access for the first time. Users can check medication dosing and drug interactions, review guidelines, and get cited answers drawn from peer-reviewed literature, including the New England Journal of Medicine and the JAMA Network. The enterprise-wide rollout is the first phase of a broader effort to ensure AI is used safely at the bedside. Northwestern Medicine runs 11 hospitals and more than 200 diagnostic and ambulatory sites.
