- Ensure the safety of visitors and staff, including assisting with evacuations during emergencies.
- Report problems, suspicious activity, and safety hazards to a supervisor.
- Secure assigned posts throughout gallery spaces and other public areas as needed.
- Attend department meetings and huddles, read departmental memos, and remain aware of policy updates.

Christie's will present "Bill Blass: American Elegance," an exhibition and auction honoring the designer who helped define American style and dressed figures including Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis, Nancy Reagan, Barbara Bush, and Gloria Vanderbilt. The auction runs September 9-23, with a preview at Christie's New York September 8-13 and a full exhibition at Blass' former town house September 18-22. In total, 129 pieces will be presented, including vintage garments, fashion sketches, and personal letters, among them correspondence from Giorgio Armani, Ralph Lauren, Geoffrey Beene, and Diane Vreeland. Christie's estimates the sale will realize more than $150,000, with proceeds benefiting the Bill Blass company. Notable lots include a plaid suit matching one Nancy Reagan wore deplaning Air Force One in 1988 (est. $800-$1,200) and a Michael Vollbracht for Bill Blass gown worn by Beyoncé for InStyle (est. $3,000-$5,000). The sale coincides with New York Fashion Week and America's 250th anniversary celebrations, with Christie's calling it a tribute to one of American fashion's foundational figures. Bergdorf Goodman honors Michael Kors' 45-year legacy on Fifth Avenue. Bergdorf Goodman has unveiled a Fifth Avenue window installation marking Michael Kors' 45th anniversary, celebrating the arrival of the designer's Fall/Winter 2026 collection. The display draws its atmosphere from the Metropolitan Opera House at Lincoln Center, where the runway show was staged, featuring red velvet curtains and monumental portraits of Broadway stars Lea Michele, Audra McDonald, and Judith Light alongside key looks from the collection. The Academy's film archive building to undergo a major renovation this fall. The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences will begin a three-year renovation of its Pickford Center for Motion Picture Study this fall. The Hollywood building, acquired by the Academy in 2000 and opened in 2002, houses much of the organization's film archive and is attached to the 286-seat Linwood Dunn Theatre and event space. The project, expected to wrap by the end of 2029, aims to restore and modernize the facility, including constructing additional collection vaults, improving existing ones, upgrading climate control and mechanical systems, enhancing lighting, and installing new roofing. ART KL, debuting October 15-18, will spotlight emerging Southeast Asian artists at A Place Where (APW), a converted printing factory turned "lifestyle campus" that's also serving as the fair's venue sponsor. The initiative comes from a partnership between Richard Koh Art Advisory and consultancy firm Art Anonymous. Ten galleries from across the region have signed on, including Kuala Lumpur's Galeri Sasha, Singapore's Intersections, Jakarta's ISA Art Gallery, Bangkok's Warin Lab Contemporary, and Zhan Art | Space in Petaling Jaya, each mounting solo or duo presentations. Painter Mary Heilmann, who reshaped abstraction with warmth, dies at 86. Mary Heilmann spent more than five decades proving that abstraction could be warm, funny, and deeply human, a body of work that reshaped how a generation understood painting. She died at 86, but the joy embedded in her canvases, layered with gestural underpainting and playful geometric overpainting, remains her lasting signature. Shaped by Bay Area surf culture and the Beat ethos of her youth, Heilmann arrived in New York in 1968 chasing sculpture and Minimalism, only to find her true voice in painting. The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has announced the newly elected 2026-2027 Academy Foundation Board members and officers. The Academy Foundation oversees all educational, preservation and cultural activities of the Academy, including the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures, the Academy's Margaret Herrick Library, the Academy Film Archive, the Academy Collection and the Academy's talent development programmes. The Academy Foundation Board comprises 12 trustees who also are members of the Academy Board of Governors. Casting director Kim Taylor-Coleman was re-elected president of the Academy Foundation Board. Glenn Close, Ridley Scott among those to receive honorary Oscars at 17th Governors Awards. The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences will present honorary Oscars to acclaimed actress Glenn Close and filmmaker Ridley Scott at the 17th Governors Awards this fall, recognizing two of cinema's most influential figures after decades of celebrated work. Veteran animator Floyd Norman will also receive an Honorary Award, while producers Christine Vachon and Pamela Koffler will be honored with the Irving G. Thalberg Memorial Award. The Governors Awards honor lifetime achievement and exceptional contributions to the motion picture industry and are traditionally held separately from the annual Oscars telecast. Announcing the recipients, Academy President Lynette Howell Taylor said, "The Academy's Board of Governors is thrilled to present this year's Governors Awards to five remarkable individuals whose groundbreaking work has forever shaped the art of filmmaking." Close, an eight-time Academy Award nominee, has long been regarded as one of Hollywood's most accomplished performers without a competitive Oscar victory. Her nominations span films including The World According to Garp, Fatal Attraction, Dangerous Liaisons, Albert Nobbs, The Wife and Hillbilly Elegy. The Academy praised her career for bringing depth and emotional complexity to some of film's most memorable characters. Scott, whose filmmaking career has helped shape modern cinema, is being recognized for a body of work that includes Alien, Blade Runner, Thelma & Louise, Gladiator, Black Hawk Down and The Martian. Despite multiple Oscar nominations as a director and producer, the British filmmaker has never received a competitive Academy Award. The honorary Oscar acknowledges his lasting impact on filmmaking and visual storytelling. Norman, Disney's first regular Black animator, is being honored for a career spanning more than six decades and contributions to animated classics such as Sleeping Beauty, The Jungle Book and Robin Hood, as well as projects for Hanna-Barbera and Pixar. Meanwhile, Vachon and Koffler are being recognized for their work through Killer Films, the independent production company behind acclaimed titles including Boys Don't Cry, Carol, May December and Past Lives. The ceremony is scheduled for Nov. 15 at the Ray Dolby Ballroom in Ovation Hollywood.
Academy to celebrate theatrical experience with the Marquee Theater List. To celebrate the theater-going experience, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences is creating the Academy Marquee Theater List. According to their website, this endeavor is intended to celebrate "the most remarkable movie theaters around the world - theaters that provide exceptional audience experiences, preserve cinematic history and serve as cultural anchors in their communities." For a fee, official representatives of each theater can submit their applications to be considered for the list, which will be selected in the spring of 2027 by a committee of Academy members across all branches. Final approvals will come from the Academy's Board of Governors. The list will include 50 theaters, 25 from the United States and 25 internationally. They will be featured across the Academy's website and social media channels, and will receive a physical certificate to display in their lobby.
Academy taps Jennifer Todd for 17th Governors Awards, succeeding Jennifer Fox. Todd, a former governor of the Academy's Producers Branch, will lead the prestigious ceremony for the first time. The Academy will present Honorary Oscars to actor Glenn Close, filmmaker Ridley Scott and animator Floyd Norman during the event. Producers Christine Vachon and Pamela Koffler will receive the Irving G Thalberg Memorial Award. Announcing the appointment, Academy CEO Howell Taylor praised Todd's experience. 'El Paso News is thrilled to have Jennifer leading this year's Governors Awards,' Taylor said. 'Her expertise in producing will undoubtedly create a beautiful evening celebrating the artistry of this year's exceptional honorees.' Responding to the announcement, Todd said she was honoured to produce the event. 'I am delighted to have the opportunity to produce this cherished Academy event,' she said. Over a career spanning more than three decades, Todd has produced several acclaimed films, including Christopher Nolan's breakthrough feature Memento, which earned two Academy Award nominations. Her other producing credits include Boiler Room, Must Love Dogs, Prime, Across the Universe, Alice in Wonderland, Celeste and Jesse Forever and the Austin Powers franchise, according to Variety. Todd is also familiar with the Academy Awards telecast, having co-produced the 89th and 90th Oscars alongside Michael De Luca. Both ceremonies received Emmy nominations in the outstanding special class program and outstanding variety special (live) categories. The Honorary Award recognises individuals for lifetime achievement, exceptional contributions to the motion picture arts and sciences, or outstanding service to the Academy. The Irving G.
