What believers are saying

  • TTI won a $19.2 million Aug. 9, 2026 USDOT connected-vehicle grant for Texas TRUST.
  • TTI and TAMIU secured a $250,000 cross-border zero-emission study announced in 2025.
  • TTI’s Oct. 1, 2026 food-flow mapping and Sept. 3, 2026 Kyle Field planning show fresh demand.

What critics are saying

  • TTI depends on $42.8 million federal funds in 2026-27; Washington cuts hit quickly.
  • Its 2026-27 budget leans on $24.1 million Texas general revenue and continued appropriations.
  • If federal university-transportation-center grants shrink after 2027, TTI loses core research revenue and talent.

What makes Texas A&M Transportation Institute unique

  • TTI is the nation’s largest university-affiliated transportation research institute, with nearly 700 professionals.
  • Its Austin-College Station-Bryan footprint and TxDOT relationships create unmatched Texas roadway access.
  • TTI led the Aug. 2026 Texas TRUST V2X program, a statewide deployment platform.
