Requirements
  • Deep background in Legal Operations, Billing Management, or Spend Analysis, including understanding of staffing models, unit costs, and timekeeper productivity for legal work.
  • Familiarity with SQL and Python sufficient to understand engineers' work.
  • Ability to translate technical definitions and issues into clear terms for stakeholders, including explaining the impact of missing (null) values being captured as zero in a rate book.
  • Willingness to learn how large language models and artificial intelligence consume data to prevent hallucinated advice on key data.
Responsibilities
  • Own the key business definitions and calculation methods for legal spend analysis and maintain sources of truth, including defining terms such as Average Blended Rate, Disputed Fees, and Total Spend in code logic.
  • Audit existing Excel files and PowerPoint decks used by delivery stakeholders, identify ambiguous data definitions, and refactor them into modern data and analytics paradigms such as the models structure in a dbt project.
  • Validate the proper analysis of client data in traditional calculations such as SQL and artificial intelligence tools.
  • Help drive data storytelling for a senior audience in law departments and the C-suite.
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience working with large CSV or Parquet datasets locally.
  • Knowledge of specific E-Billing and Enterprise Legal Management exports, such as Legal Tracker, Onit, or TeamConnect.
