Requirements
- Completion of a two-year program such as an Associate degree.
- A minimum of 2 years of supervisory experience in quality assurance, food safety, food distribution, food manufacturing, supply chain, or a related field.
- Understanding of Quality Management Systems.
- Experience developing, implementing, and maintaining food safety and quality programs.
- Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Ability to handle multiple responsibilities.
- Ability to adapt to change and learn in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities
- Oversee implementation, execution, and continuous improvement of core food safety and quality programs, ensuring compliance with the SQF Management System and applicable regulatory, food safety, and quality requirements.
- Oversee development, implementation, and execution of the cleaning and sanitation program, including the Master Sanitation Schedule.
- Lead the Management Review process and ensure critical aspects of FSQA programs are evaluated and improved as necessary.
- Act as the SQF Practitioner, ensuring compliance with SQF standards and maintaining audit documentation.
- Gather, trend, and report metrics that measure and communicate performance.
- Work with plant FSQA teams and cross-functional partners to understand and identify gaps and propose process changes affecting quality systems compliance.
- Act as backup to the FSQA Manager during their absence, managing quality assurance functions and leading the QA team.
- Respond to escalations and provide solutions in a 24/7 production environment.
- Provide coverage support as needed in a 24/7 production environment.
- Work with recruiting teams to adequately staff each shift.
- Assist supervisors with personnel coaching as needed.
- Identify program gaps through internal audits or corrective and preventive action processes.
- Develop corrective actions for deviations and gaps and ensure implementation is effective.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to address non-conformities and drive continuous improvement.
- Deliver training to plant FSQA teams related to program rollout.
- Communicate new or updated programs and critical issues to plant and corporate stakeholders.
- Lead weekly supervisory meetings.
- Serve as a subject matter expert for new program rollouts.
- Identify developmental opportunities and coach the supervisory team.
- Conduct performance reviews for direct reports.
- Travel up to 10% as required.
Desired Qualifications
- Previous experience with Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI), Safe Quality Food (SQF), and United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) audits.
