Group Fitness Instructors
About the job
- A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
- Group Fitness Instructor Certification (ACE, AFAA, or equivalent) is preferred.
- CPR/AED certification is required, or the ability to obtain it within 30 days of hire.
- Previous experience leading group fitness classes is required.
- A solid understanding of fitness techniques, anatomy, and safety practices is required.
- The ability to engage, motivate, and build positive rapport with participants is required.
- The ability to work independently and collaboratively with a team is required.
- The physical ability to stand, walk, and move throughout the facility for extended periods is required.
- The ability to lift and handle gym equipment as needed is required.
- Prepare equipment before class and ensure it is cleaned and stored afterward.
- Lead group fitness classes with a focus on proper form, technique, and safety.
- Encourage participants to reach their fitness goals in a positive, supportive environment.
- Offer modifications to accommodate all fitness levels and individual needs.
- Observe participants' performance and provide constructive feedback as needed.
- Support the promotion of additional fitness programs and services offered by the department.
