Alcohol & Drug Counselor (LADC/ADC-T)

Reports To: SUD Program Manager

FLSA Classification: Exempt

Work Location: On-site, Minneapolis

Hours: Monday - Friday Daytime Hours

Pay Range: $60,000 - $71,000 annually

JOB SUMMARY:  

Partners Behavioral Healthcare is seeking a LADC/ADC-T to join our men's outpatient substance use disorder program in Minneapolis. The Licensed Alcohol and Drug Counselor (LADC/ADC-T) provides individual and group counseling to support clients in achieving recovery and personal well-being. This role ensures delivery of services in compliance with Minnesota Department of Human Services (DHS) regulations and 245G standards. The counselor addresses substance use, mental health, and personal or family challenges while maintaining thorough documentation of all treatment services.

PRIMARY JOB DUTIES:

Under the direction of the ProgramManagerandTreatment Director, the LADC/ADC-T will:

• Conduct comprehensive assessmentand assessment summaryusing the ASAM Six Dimensionsand develop individualized treatment plans with goals,objectives, and interventions.

• Ensure each client hasan InitialService Plan addressing immediate health, safety, and preliminary service needs.

• Maintainaccurateandtimelydocumentation, including Initial Service Plans, Comprehensive Assessments, Individual Treatment Plans, Progress Notes, Treatment Plan Reviews, Summaries at Termination, and Continuing Care Plans.

• Provide individual and group counseling, education, and behavioralmodificationstrategies to address substance use, mental health issues, and criminogenic behaviors.

• Facilitate psycho-educational and therapeutic groups as part of the recovery process.

• Deliver an average of 28 hours per week of direct client services, combining individual and group sessions.

• Participate in weekly treatment team meetings and clinical supervision sessions to review and update client progress.

• Collaborate with referral sources, probation officers, social service agencies, and other members of the treatment team.

• Follow all safety and security protocols to ensure the safety of clients, staff, and self.

• Perform other duties as assigned.
  
  

KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS:

• Independent and self-motivated with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

• Effective verbal and written communication and strong interpersonal skills.

• Ability tomaintainprofessional boundaries and work ethically with clients.

• Ability to analyze and solve problems effectively andin a timely manner.

• Experience working with clients with co-occurring mental health and criminal justice involvement.

• Knowledge of DHS 245G regulations, 12 Core Functions, and industry best practices.

• Understanding of HIPAA regulations and client confidentiality requirements.

• Competence infacilitatingindividual and group counseling, crisis intervention, and educational lectures.

• Ability to manage multiple client cases, prioritize responsibilities, andmaintainattention to detail.
  
  

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Minimum age: 18 years.

• Must hold a current LADC or ADC-T license in the state of Minnesota.

• Completion of 12 hours of training in co-occurring mental health disorders (within 6 months of hire if not already completed).

• Adherence to MN Statutes 604.20 and 604.205regardingsexual exploitation.

• Successful completion of the MN Department of Human Services background study.
  
  

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: 

• 1–2 years of experience working with clients struggling with substance use.

• 2–3 years of experience providing Outpatient or Intensive Outpatient treatment.

• Experience with Ritten electronic healthrecords.

• Additionallicenses (preferred but notrequired): LPC, LPCC, LICSW, LP.
  
  

WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

• Work is primarily in an office or clinical setting.

• Typicalenvironment includes individual counseling rooms, group therapy rooms, and standard office settings.

• Physical demands include the ability to sit or stand for extended periods,facilitategroup sessions, and occasionally lift or move materials up to 25 lbs.

• Requires use of office equipment, including computers, phones, and filing systems.

• Ability toobserveclient behavior, read and interpret documentation, and respond to verbal and non-verbal cues.

• Work may involve emotionally intense or unpredictable client interactions;abilityto manage stress and respond calmly to crises is essential.

• Must follow all safety protocols to ensure personal, client, and staff safety.
  
  

CONTINUED EDUCATION AND TRAINING: 

• Complete continuing education coursesrequiredtomaintainactive LADC or ADC-Tlicensure.

• Opportunitiesforadditionalspecialized training.

• Attend mandatory in-house training sessions and staff meetings as scheduled.
