Requirements
  • At least 6 years of professional software engineering experience with strong backend expertise.
  • Direct, hands-on experience integrating at least one external financial-partner platform end-to-end through go-live and steady-state operation.
  • A track record of taking integrations from zero to one, including partner scoping, navigating ambiguous specifications, and operating production-grade integrations.
  • Strong system-design instincts in high-correctness domains where money, idempotency, retries, reconciliation, and observability are first-class concerns.
  • The ability to work autonomously across organizational boundaries, drive meetings with partner engineering teams, challenge poor specifications, and maintain effective relationships.
  • Strong debugging skills against systems the engineer does not own, including analyzing partner API behavior from logs, replays, and webhook traces when documentation is incomplete or inaccurate.
  • Proficiency with TypeScript, React, Postgres, GraphQL, and Node.js.
Responsibilities
  • Take financial partnerships from zero to one by scoping integrations with partners, pressure-testing data and protocol specifications, designing systems, building and shipping integrations, and operating them.
  • Own the technical relationship with financial partners across the full lifecycle, including billing platforms, payment processors, agentic-commerce protocol partners, tax and compliance vendors, and KYC/risk providers.
  • Build and maintain integrations with agentic-commerce protocols and Shared Payment Tokens so Replit Agents and user-published apps can transact across AI surfaces.
  • Design abstractions that enable other engineers to monetize new products through clear seams, versioned interfaces, and maintainable integrations.
  • Build the observability layer for partner-facing flows, including webhook reliability, reconciliation, latency service-level objectives, incident response, and dashboards for partner failures.
  • Drive partner-side incident response when integrations degrade, including escalation paths, post-incident reviews, and engineering work to prevent recurrence.
  • Represent Replit in technical reviews with partners by providing API design feedback, protocol input, and joint roadmaps, and incorporate findings into Replit's monetization architecture.
  • Partner with finance, accounting, data, legal, and business development to produce auditable financial data, satisfy contractual service-level agreements, and support commercial deals.
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience with agentic-commerce primitives such as Shared Payment Tokens, ACP, UCP, MPP, agent-issued cards, agent wallets, or production systems where a non-human party initiates payment.
  • Experience with usage-based billing platforms such as Orb, Metronome, or Stripe Billing, or payment processors such as Stripe, Adyen, or Braintree, at the integration level.
  • Experience operating webhook-driven, eventually consistent integrations, including reconciliation and replay tooling.
  • Experience with multi-party payment flows, marketplace payouts, or platforms responsible for the financial correctness of third parties.
  • Experience persuading a partner's engineering team to change an API.

Replit is a cloud-based platform for software development and deployment that lets users write, run, and share code directly in a web browser, using an online editor and IDE with real-time collaboration and project management. It runs code in the browser or the cloud and provides tools for writing, executing, and debugging, along with AI-powered coding assistance across many programming languages. Everything operates in the browser with built-in collaboration and learning features, reducing local setup and enabling teams and learners to work together. Its goal is to make coding and deploying software easier and more accessible for students, freelancers, and enterprises through a shared browser-based platform.

What believers are saying

  • Replit launched Free Mode on August 19, 2026, expanding usage without extra token burn.
  • Visa invested in May 2026, opening embedded payments for AI-built apps and agents.
  • Semgrep's August 2026 Security Center integration strengthens enterprise trust for AI-generated code.

What critics are saying

  • Apple blocked Replit iOS updates for months, reducing App Store visibility and revenue.
  • Replit's dependence on OpenAI pricing makes margins vulnerable if model discounts reverse.
  • Cursor, v0, and Apple-controlled app creation threaten Replit's platform if developers leave.

What makes Replit unique

  • Replit turns browser coding into deployment, collapsing IDE, hosting, and agent workflows.
  • OpenAI's GPT-5.6 Luna powers Free Mode, lowering token costs for Core and Pro.
  • Visa and Semgrep integrations anchor commerce and security directly inside Replit's workspace.

Replit launches Free Mode powered by OpenAI's GPT-5.6 Luna after 80% price cut

Replit has launched Free Mode, a new feature powered by OpenAI's GPT-5.6 Luna model, following an 80% price cut on the model. The feature is available to subscribers paying $20 monthly for Core tier or $100 for Pro, allowing users to perform simpler tasks without depleting their AI token budgets. Free Mode automatically switches to more sophisticated models when needed, then reverts to Luna. The launch reflects broader industry trends of reducing AI costs as enterprises scrutinise return on investment and face competition from cheaper Chinese models. Replit president Michele Catasta said the partnership with OpenAI will yield additional joint product launches. OpenAI's Thibault Sottiaux noted the price reductions stem from operational efficiencies rather than increased computing capacity. Both companies aim to make powerful AI models accessible to users without technical backgrounds.

Semgrep and Replit deepen partnership to secure AI-generated code at scale

Semgrep has expanded its partnership with Replit to embed real-time security analysis into AI-native development workflows. The code security company has integrated Semgrep Guardian's secrets and credentials detection directly into Replit's newly launched Security Center. The collaboration addresses security challenges posed by AI-generated code, which can create and propagate vulnerabilities across multiple files in seconds. Traditional security reviews struggle to keep pace with AI agents that can scaffold complete applications in minutes. The integration provides inline security scanning, real-time vulnerability detection, and in-workflow remediation guidance. It leverages Replit Agent's LLM reasoning to filter out up to 93.3% of false positives from static analysis results. The expanded integration is now available to all Replit Security Center users with no additional setup required. Companies including Snowflake, Figma, Lyft, and Dropbox currently use Semgrep's security platform.

Replit targets $1B revenue by 2026 after AI pivot drives $9B valuation

Replit raised $400 million at a $9 billion valuation early this year, targeting $1 billion in annual recurring revenue by end-2026. The company now serves over 50 million users, including teams at 85% of Fortune 500 companies. Founded in 2016, Replit initially offered browser-based coding tools. Its AI pivot transformed it into a platform enabling anyone to build software through natural language descriptions. Annual revenue surged from $2.8 million in 2024 to $240-300 million by end-2025 following launch of AI agent capabilities. The company has raised $922 million across nine rounds from investors including Andreessen Horowitz, Coatue, Google's AI Futures Fund, and Qatar Investment Authority. It reports net retention rates as high as 300% and over 500,000 professional business customers. The analysis suggests Replit could expand beyond software creation into entrepreneurship development, combining technical tools with business methodology.

Visa invests in Replit to integrate AI-powered payment solutions for developers

Visa has made an undisclosed investment in AI coding platform Replit and is exploring integration of its payment products into the platform. The partnership aims to enable developers and AI agents to accept payments directly without leaving Replit. The collaboration includes potential use of Visa Intelligent Commerce and Visa's Trusted Agent Protocol, which allows AI agents to securely identify themselves for verified transactions. Over 1,000 Visa employees currently use Replit for prototyping and development. Replit is also launching self-serve enterprise access for contracts up to $200,000, offering features like single sign-on and audit logs. The San Francisco-based company raised $400 million at a $9 billion valuation in March, tripling its value in six months. CEO Amjad Masad reports very low churn and net retention reaching 300% in some cases.
