Requirements
  • A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • At least six months of relevant experience is required; manufacturing experience is preferred.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills and the ability to communicate in English, both verbally and in writing, in a timely and professional manner are required.
  • The ability to communicate in multiple languages is preferred.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills, including the ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects, are required.
  • Proficient computer and math skills are required.
  • The employee must follow departmental and company safety policies and programs and wear required protective equipment where mandatory.
  • The employee must be able to work non-standard or extended shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays, as needed.
  • The employee must be able to stand and/or walk throughout the shift.
  • The employee may be exposed to heat, cold, wet and dusty environments, and live or raw animal odors.
Responsibilities
  • Coordinate and delegate the work of personnel under the direction of the Supervisor to meet production goals and ensure compliance with company policies and federal and state regulations, including USDA and OSHA requirements.
  • Assist with coordinating personnel and enforcing company policies, procedures, food safety guidelines, and good manufacturing practices.
  • Understand daily production requirements, set up production lines, and deploy personnel so adequate tools and staffing are available before the shift begins.
  • Perform all functions of the assigned area and provide backup coverage during employee absences or breaks.
  • Gather and accurately record data, create departmental, attendance, staffing, and yield reports, and distribute them to appropriate personnel.
  • Train and cross-train employees in departmental processes and procedures.
  • Identify and communicate process-optimization opportunities involving throughput, waste reduction, product quality, and ergonomics, and help reduce or eliminate repeat deficiencies such as held product, accidents, and downtime.
  • Participate in implementing process improvements, monitor improvement metrics, and provide input on unfavorable trends.
  • Participate in departmental meetings.
  • Follow and promote safety initiatives to help maintain a zero-accident environment.
  • Learn departmental goals and collaborate with other departments and shifts to meet or exceed objectives.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
