Requirements
  • Doctor of Audiology (Au.D.) from an accredited institution.
  • ASHA Certificate of Clinical Competence in Audiology (CCC-A).
  • South Carolina audiology licensure or eligibility for licensure.
  • Minimum requirements listed by the ATS are a PhD, MD, or equivalent.
  • Ability to perform job functions in upright, seated, and walking/mobile positions.
  • Ability to work indoors continuously and outdoors in all weather and temperature extremes occasionally.
  • Ability to work in confined or cramped spaces, kneel, squat, pinch, use both hands and arms, perform repetitive upper-extremity motions, and reach in all directions.
  • Good finger dexterity and ability to maintain tactile sensory functions.
  • Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull objects weighing up to 15 pounds unassisted.
  • Ability to maintain corrected 20/40 vision, recognize objects at close and distant ranges, determine depth and distance relationships, and maintain peripheral vision.
  • Ability to maintain hearing acuity with correction and perform gross motor functions with frequent fine motor movements.
  • Employment authorization is verified through the federal E-Verify program.
Responsibilities
  • Provide comprehensive adult audiologic care across outpatient and inpatient settings.
  • Perform comprehensive diagnostic audiologic evaluations.
  • Select, fit, and manage amplification.
  • Evaluate and program osseointegrated devices.
  • Perform inpatient and outpatient diagnostic testing in coordination with otolaryngology physicians.
  • Perform auditory evoked potential testing.
  • Provide behavioral audiometric assessments for patients of all ages.
  • Perform acoustic immittance testing.
  • Perform site-of-lesion and threshold auditory brainstem response testing.
  • Perform transient-evoked and distortion-product otoacoustic emissions testing.
  • Perform comprehensive vestibular testing, including videonystagmography, rotary chair, posturography, vestibular evoked myogenic potentials, and video head impulse testing.
  • Program hearing aids, cochlear implants, and other implantable hearing devices.
  • Supervise fourth-year Doctor of Audiology students.
  • Provide instruction to otolaryngology residents and interns.
  • Deliver lectures to residents and house staff as assigned.
  • Participate in audiology seminars and departmental conferences.
  • Contribute to or collaborate in ongoing clinical research.
