Requirements
  • Typically, education and experience equivalent to a 2-year degree in computer science or a related field, including computer-related classes, and two years of experience directly performing computer or audio/video support.

Responsibilities
  • Receive training on the legislative vote system.
  • Run the legislative vote system during floor sessions, including Saturdays.
  • Provide on-camera support.
  • Provide level-one technical support and respond to technical support requests and user inquiries in a timely manner.
  • Use problem-solving techniques to understand, isolate, and document problems; determine whether to resolve or escalate them; and implement and document solutions.
  • Work with level-two and level-three staff within the Office of Legislative Information Services or contractor personnel to resolve challenging problems.
  • Manage user accounts and access, change passwords, and reset user lockouts.
  • Set up user accounts and workstations for new staff, perform user application testing, deploy equipment, and document activities in the tracking system.
  • Provide in-person, telephone, or email help desk support for branch users covering hardware, software, network, audio/video, and inventory database issues.
  • Monitor help desk tickets, respond to support requests, and escalate tickets as needed for timely resolution.
  • Identify patterns in help desk tickets and escalate them for root-cause solutions.
  • Manage and control hardware, software, and audio/video equipment inventory.
  • Maintain hardware inventory so equipment is organized, clean, ready for deployment, and documented.
  • Inspect equipment, prepare it for installation, install it, and verify that it is ready for users.
  • Perform basic maintenance on branch hardware, including printers, plotters, copiers, keyboards, monitors, ergonomic workstations, and audio/video devices.
  • Image workstations, configure application settings, and verify proper functionality.
  • Maintain the branch asset inventory system with accurate identification and location information.
  • Help plan and implement the purchase and management of inventory and replacement equipment.
  • Process surplus equipment for proper disposal.
  • Provide hands-on technical training on hardware and software to computer users.
  • Maintain current working knowledge of software and hardware products and their capabilities.
  • Perform other duties and projects as assigned.
