Requirements
  • High School diploma or equivalent and completion of a Medical Assisting Program.
  • Must be able to perform the essential functions of the position.
  • Must be able to meet the attendance requirements of the position.
  • Must not pose a threat to the health or safety of other individuals in the workplace.
  • Physical ability to lift up to 20 pounds unassisted.
  • Must be able to deliver excellent customer service, externally and internally.
Responsibilities
  • Assist the physician with physical examinations and carry out nursing treatments and procedures according to the physician’s documented orders.
  • Maintain familiarity with departmental policies and standards to efficiently perform assignments.
  • Maintain good public and working relationships and familiarity with community health and social services.
  • Take patient history, vital signs, symptoms, and conditions and document them in the medical record.
  • Administer patient immunizations following clinical protocols and provider instructions.
  • Administer medications and treatments ordered by the provider.
  • Check treatment rooms for properly functioning equipment and stock supplies.
  • Perform laboratory duties, including daily quality checks and documentation, specimen processing and result documentation, provider notification of abnormal results, daily cleaning and disinfection of the laboratory and equipment in accordance with infection control guidelines, and monthly submission of quality-control and patient-testing logs.
  • Travel to other Centro Del Barrio sites while carrying out duties.
  • Assist the provider with specialized examinations and treatments or procedures as directed.
  • Maintain inventory for the supply room and assist the LVN Nurse Supervisor with other duties.
  • Perform venipuncture as ordered by the provider.
  • Follow infection-control policies and procedures in the Centro del Barrio Infection Control Manual.
  • Follow hazardous-material policies and procedures in the Employee Safety Manual.
  • Follow all safety policies in the Employee Safety Manual.
  • Demonstrate competence with all patients.
  • Participate in the agency’s Quality Improvement Program.
  • Perform other duties as required.
