What believers are saying

  • AEVEX and Divergent announced a strategic autonomous-UAS collaboration on September 2, 2026.
  • Raytheon contracted Divergent for Tomahawk midbody supply before FY2027 production begins.
  • Divergent closed a $290 million Series E at a $2.3 billion valuation in 2026.

What critics are saying

  • Factory 2 is 80% defense-driven; FY2027 appropriations control utilization and cash.
  • Tomahawk revenue starts only after Raytheon’s finalized FY2027 contract, delaying conversion.
  • If Tomahawk and drone programs slip, Divergent becomes an expensive defense subcontractor.

What makes Divergent Technologies unique

  • DAPS unifies AI design, metal printing, and robotic assembly into one production stack.
  • Factory 2’s Monolith One printers vertically integrate hardware, software, and certification workflows.
  • Divergent proved speed: Mach’s Venom reached flight readiness in 71 days, February 2026.

L3Harris turns to 3D printing for affordable mass-produced munitions.

L3Harris turns to 3D printing for affordable mass-produced munitions. L3Harris and Divergent Technologies plan to use additive manufacturing to scale production of launched weapons as the US seeks more affordable munitions it can field in larger numbers. The companies signed a teaming agreement to explore using Divergent's manufacturing processes for L3Harris' Wolf Pack family, starting with the Red Wolf and Green Wolf systems. Divergent's manufacturing system uses digital design and additive manufacturing to produce complex hardware. Both systems of L3Harris are modular, unmanned vehicles designed to launch from aircraft or ground platforms. Red Wolf is intended for precision strikes, while Green Wolf carries electronic warfare capabilities. Their software supports in-flight coordination and retargeting, as well as coordinated operations involving multiple autonomous aircraft, according to L3Harris. "Today's evolving battlefield demands highly capable, affordable munitions to counter low-cost threats at scale," L3Harris President for Advanced Effects Quinlan Lyte said. The announcement does not specify production targets, costs, or a timeline for scaling output. US seeks affordable, mass-produced munitions. The agreement comes as the Pentagon pursues weapons that cost less to produce and can be manufactured at scale. One initiative, the Ground-Based Affordable Mass program, seeks long-range, autonomously guided strike weapons with a target flyaway cost below $250,000 per unit at scale. The Defense Innovation Unit has set a rapid development schedule, seeking demonstrations within months and a path to production within 18 months. The Pentagon is also pursuing other lower-cost strike options, including the Family of Affordable Mass Missiles program and a low-cost containerized missile effort. These initiatives aim to give US forces additional strike capacity without relying solely on more expensive guided weapons.

Divergent to manufacture Tomahawk structures at new facility, CEO announces.

Divergent to manufacture Tomahawk structures at new facility, CEO announces. June 18, 2026 Divergent Technologies is set to begin 3D printing a crucial element of the Tomahawk cruise missile at a new facility located in Long Beach, California. This factory, referred to as "Factory 2," will span 430,000 square feet and has the capacity to produce over 30,000 missile airframes or 60,000 warhead casings annually, depending on defense requirements. Divergent's Chief Executive, Lukas Czinger, announced that the production is scheduled to kick off in the first half of next year. This ramp-up is part of a contract with RTX's Raytheon, making Divergent a supplementary supplier for the Tomahawk missile's midbody structure, which is essential as Raytheon seeks to enhance its production capabilities. Czinger emphasized the critical need for increased production, stating, "We need all hands on deck, we need as many of these as we can possibly get, and Divergent is good complementary supply for Raytheon." The partnership aims to fortify the supply chain ahead of a finalized contract expected after Congress passes the fiscal 2027 budget. The new production capacity marks a significant increase, allowing Divergent to expand its annual output eightfold for both defense and commercial clients. While the facility is designed to accommodate different manufacturing needs, around 80% of its output is currently dictated by growth in defense contracts. Divergent's Factory 2 will utilize their advanced "Monolith One" series of 3D printers, with 64 machines set to double production throughput compared to current models. These printers are noted for their high reliability and cost-efficiency, featuring the highest laser power and the most advanced delivery systems available on the market. In addition to its work with Raytheon, Divergent also has contracts to produce structures for various defense programs, including the Air Force's Family of Affordable Mass Missile and the Low Cost Containerized Munitions Program. The company's strategic pivot towards defense over the last three years has positioned it well for future growth. Have a model ready? Get a price in seconds.
